no worries Goatman, I have appriectated your info on boards etc and surf vids. As far as meeting people here, just remember the GC is a small place and there are alot more Sup'rs here (GC) than just on Sea Breeze.....what is said off the record is very often never said on the record....I personaly dont agree with that and tend to speak my mind....I would say the same to Rob in person, how he takes it is up to him.....after all Im just 1 person and its JUST my opinion.....
after speaking to a mate in the surf industry, there seems to be a BIG grey area around the whole leagal side of things....He runs a surfschool, and they can not take pics of their cliengts without their permission.....he also noted the Lifegaurds have had the police come to the beach and remove people taking pics of girls in public........
regarding the negative views, its seems to be a one way street for some here. I have seen plenty of the so called "positive contributors" knock/bag etc other brands/methods and seems more from those affiliated with a brand etc. As far as upsetting them and they wont keep adding, how about some of your own advice to me....HTFU...its a public forum and you cant please all of the people all of the time. Maybe you have or havent noticed, but some have already left because of the cheerleading here. Others have read and left before joining because of the BS...remember there is a difference between someone offering a simple opinion or posting a vid and a person marketing a product/service where they have something to gain ![]()
A big contributing factor to this is the consistancy of the moderators here....just take alook at the Sup Surfing section, some board stuff stays and some gets moved to boards....with know real rhyme or reason????
Geeez still going.....
I came back after a few days and saw this at the top of the list and thought there would be more action shots. Come on Rob.... You can do it!
I don't know, wanker is the first word that comes to my mind too.
The legal aspect is plain silly. Step way back and take a look at the internet. See all those folks enforcing privacy laws. No? Hmmm. Me either.
To have a privacy issue you need an expectation of privacy. Walk on a public beach with your ass hanging out and you pretty much forfeit that, even if you have a bit of cottage cheese. I use model releases like confetti, but mostly I just roundfile them when the project is done. So why use them--because it makes people think the effort is pro. That's it. Take a look at the recommendations of photographer sites concerning releases. Most acknowledge that they are not necessary, but WTF, people expect them.
But WAY more to the point, other than someone yanking a three page issue out of their butt, who the f*%K cares? Did Australia suddenly grow a whole fleet of American lawyers and litigious jerkoffs? Hey, they'd probably snicker at this in California.
Wussamatter, don't you guys have any surf?
Didn't I remember a slew of Aussies telling folks on the Zone to HTFU and get a sense of humor about the Rusty brouhaha.
Yer Pono,
Apparently the layed back ozzies are not being so layed back!
Good photos Rob, I enjoyed them anyways and couldnt give a rats about legal stuff....and you blokes snapping each others lipsticks, pulling hair, scratching and just being allround dead pricks...
Negative hater of pioneers here
before you start I am just taking the p-ss![]()
Pimping has been part of the site for a long time and I am fine with it,however I do get dam sick of viewing pictures that are promoting a business from members of the forum ( kick backs ) comes to mind. Its so obvious its laughable at times.
I agree with husq on a couple of points, some inconsistency with some threads deleted or moved. This gets me thinking, why and who is behind it.
I would reframe from getting personal and name calling.I have a mate who WAS a forum member until he received threating phone calls, now thats just going too far.
Not that he feared the threats, trust me this guy can take care of himself but the comment he made to me was Charlie Sheen like,They cant handle the truth.
