Thumbs Up

I had some work to do in Southern California, and squeezed an extra day to go down and see Infinity SUP and rent a board and catch my first non northeast beach break. How great to see a place where SUPs were available and for sale!!! And rent-able! Where I live it's impossible to try anything out. And I am usually the only guy who SUPs in Rockaways in Queens. I met Dave and his Dad, and they were super cool and we talked for a bit. I shoulda gotten a selfie! They pointed me to the place - DogPatch in San Onofre -- where I would find other like minded people (SUP-pers). It was a long wait to get into the parking area, but once in and on the water it had some nice small waves. In NYC, I'm lucky if I get a few turns on a wave, so what a a pleasure to make 3, 4 5 turns on a wave. Also, I was surprised how easily I adjusted to the 7'11" Escape Pod. I would need a couple of more tries to dial it in I as it turned a bit different from the Starboard Spice. The guys there said it was a very mediocre day, but I had alot of fun!

So my plan is to make it out to the Santa Cruz Paddlefest, meet up with Dave and hopefully get my next board. I think my Spice is a great small wave board, so perhaps the b-line twin will be the right option to extend my quiver!

Funnily enough, Dave just posted a session from Dogpatch.
