This is why SUPs get a bad name - guys with limited ability, surfing well known breaks, on crowded days, with big clunkers - and then dropping in!

Geez some great motivation to post on Seabreeze going on in this post!
Poor form guys. I doubt a single person on here could say they haven't dropped in on someone at some stage.

fsamir good on you for getting out there and giving it a crack. Wish I could say I'd SUP'd there.

Nice Stuff fsamir,

As said, I'm sure everyone one on this forum has inadvertently dropped in on some one at some time.

Not in a malicious way of course, unlike one Byron long boarder did to me not so long ago.

I'm pretty sure that particular wave was not the last to come through on that day.

Win some, lose some, the ocean keeps on giving.

I feel for the guy, sure his surfing is not at the highest level but who are we to judge, sure he dropped in wow I've never seen that move before
Give the guy a break people he was just trying to share the stoke and gets hammered for it,you could have been a little nicer with your feedback.

+1 The waves looked comparably average on that day anyway. Wish I had a dollar for every time another surfer has dropped in on me. I on the other hand.............. B---s---t.

That guy was well back down the line anyway - fair game on the drop in.
I green thumbed for having a go.
Keep posting mate.
Good to see he was wearing a leggie - unlike some I have seen on here.
Do you know how dangerous Supping in a crowded line up without a leggie is ?

Its not how good you surf that counts , its having a go and sharing the stoke. Keep posting the vids mate.Who can tell whats going on in the line up from a vid anyway. Its ok some guys just think their too school for cool.

thanks fsamir for the video ..you had a great time in some small mushy stuff..any good surfer/super would realise that there was no drop in that video..it closed out anyway on the surfer and he knew it..you were in the pocket for the takeoff....it seems there are some people who don't get wave selection and positioning..thanks for sharing the stoke and going for it with no danger to anyone..perfect board for the conditions , too! cheers

Hey fsamir, though you looked in the close cropped video like a possible kook,
you were actually sitting real cool just off the pack picking the wide ones.

Good job spreading the relaxed sup style.

Haha! Busted.... Casso? Do you wish to retort? Typical bully, wonder if he would have been dropping in If his mate wasn't there?

Legit? Where might this have been? Was it me who dropped in on you or my "mate"?

I've got to admit I've surfed my short board around Casso for years and never seen him drop in.........even though I've snaked him numerous times. In fact Casso would be about the only guy on a SUP tolerated at Narrabeen because he does do the right thing.

Nothing to do with ego - just trying to get a bit of education out there. With SUPs banned at places like Angourie, Lennox Point, Honoloua Bay, North Narrabeen and Trestles (to name a few) we all need to be extremely conscious of our behaviour and be totally respectful of others in the water (beyond standard surf etiquette). I'd hate to see Cloudbreak or Namotu Lefts added to the banned list.

It's not just about dropping in either - running over people, bailing out in front of somebody or just generally taking too many waves are all actions that shortboarders (and cranky old longboarders) are watching us closely for, so they can add ammunition to their argument against SUPs in the surf.

Sitting wide, picking off the fat leftovers .... nothing wrong with that. The other surfer was too deep and didn't make it through the closeout section. Suppose you guys would rather no one rode that wave. A lot more tolerance is needed in the lineup. I'm happy for someone to jump in front of me if they are well wide and not in my way, and if I don't make it through a close out it's nice to think some else had some fun. Have you critics ever shared a wave with a few others on a fun day? Should try it some time, you just might find out how much fun it can be.

Mate, He would have made it easy.

The section was only there cause old mate pushed it down

And namotu doesn't run off down the line it is fat and easy to make it around..

So yes he burnt him but it happens ...

Yeah I agree.

Just maybe your point wasn't made that we'll. cause it just seemed like a targeted insult at old mate. But your points about etiquette are spot on.

And sorry about the autocorrect.

Saved me a lot of typing. But my other big gripe is when a sup paddles over to a already packed bank because they have no Surf knowledge. I see them paddling around on their knees in the gutter, then they spot people on a bank getting waves and wonder why people get peeved as they paddle over. Also how are you going to get any better without standing up?
On the drop in,the fella has not even had a look while going for the wave, and to say the prone Guy would not make it is debatable. I hate when people snowball waves on me.....

Don't get me started on people who knee paddle. Makes me cringe every time. Looks so uncool. Paddle on your stomach if you need to ... pleeeease. And for anybody who has paddled onto a wave on their knees - oooooh.

Yep, I noticed that too. He had no idea who was behind him (although he could probably hear the poor guy yelling "oi, going left").

Look at the end of the day the guy is riding a mctavish, so he gets all rights as far as I'm concerned
