Hi all
Newcomer to the sport, and I've never surfed before either.
I'm after some advice please, where in Sydney can I go to find some tame surf to start on?
Currently I'm paddling around the Narrabeen lagoon, but when I am ready to step up to the Ocean, I'd like to not scare myself shtless straight off the bat.
Cheers
Tubbsy,
Are you located on the northern beaches ?
If so, would kiddies corner at Palmy not be a good start ?
If you want to come south of Sydney for a day, i'll give you some tips on where to find some fun.
Enjoy SUP mate.
Hi SUPanimal
I'm located in Chatswood, so kind bang in the middle. Have ordered some soft roof racks which I have yet to receive, as soon as I do, more than keen to make the trip down.
He he he, kiddies corner, that sounds pretty much like where my skill level lies right now. I'll give that a go.
How about in a couple of weekends time I come down to meet up so you get to laugh at me falling off first hand?
Tubbsy Sydneys north is mainly beachies and rocky points. Just pick a small day on a higher tide on a quiet beach.
Collaroy around to Long Reef is usually the place to get a wave to yourself. Put in at Brownwater/Fishermans and you will go straight into deep water.
Might be worth having a look at this for your sake and everyone elses

There are loads of good places to test out your new skills mate. I would probably steer clear of kiddies corner up at Palmy though. It is usually populated with loads of groms and swimmers.
As AA said, fisherman's is a great spot, as you can cruise down to collaroy and if that is too crowded paddle a little further down the beach and find a spot.
Get out there..
Will do boys, cheers for the advice. PS: I wouldn't go so far as to call them "skills" just yet. ;-)
