THE DUKE'S 100th Anniversary paddle.

Heritage Paddle and Races across all skill levels and board disciplines sponsored by Balmoral Paddlesurf.

On the morning 10 January 2015 the Sydney surfing community will be celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the Duke Kahanamoku Surfing at Freshwater Beach.

There will be many local and Hawaiian Surfing Celebrities providing surfing and swimming displays over the course the event, however, the DUKE'S WATERMAN CENTENARY PADDLE EVENTS will be your opportunity to celebrate the Duke.




The event will compromise of two paddles/races and their start times will enable participants to paddle in both events:

1.A BOP short or long course paddle - in and out of the surf and
around the designated course in Freshwater Bay
Short:2km for recreational Aloha racers starting outside the break
Long: 5km for serious Duke racers

2.World Surfing Reserve course- a 5 km race around the beautiful
and historic Freshwater- Manly World Surfing Reserve.

This is a paddling challenge open to a wide variety of craft:
Surfboards, Mals Under 10ft, Shortboards under 7ft
Heritage Surfcraft/surfboards
SUP's, 12'6 and recreational under 10', inflatables.
Prone Paddle Boards, SLSA Rescue & Race Boards, Nipper boards.
Surf skis/Ocean skis - LONG COURSE ONLY

PRIZES ON THE DAY:

All entrants go onthe draw to win:
A SUP ATX paddle board - value $1000
A SUP ATX Carbon Race paddle - value $300
A SUP ATX board bag - value $180
A Lahui Kai 12'6 Race board cover - valuer $220
Water wear courtesy of Lahui Kai and Balmoral Paddlesurf - T's and Caps.

These prizes will be part of a prize draw that all competitors will receive raffle tickets for on the day after online registration.

Race winners will be given extra tickets in the prize draw.

In the tradition of Duke's Day this event will be in the true spirit of Aloha and all are encouraged to come along no matteryour level of skill, it'sabout participation and the soul of surfing.

Stick around for the many events on the day such as the
re-enactment of that day in 1915 when the Duke brought Surfing to Australia and changed our coastal lifestyle forever.

Anyone got the "event rules and safety requirements" Its written at the bottom of the event website page, but is not an active link to anything.. Do we need pfd or not since other disciplines won't have one, I. E. Short boards

Yes Guys. there is a 14ft division as well as unlimited , 12'6 , recreational over 10ft and surfing under 10 ft for Sup.. There are also prone divisions.

Hi Conditions are looking great for tomorrow mornings paddle at Freshwater.
Entries will be taken on the morning but please be there early.
The Courses will be slightly altered to take advantage of the downwind conditions caused by the NE Wind and Swell.
