Definitely not news...
Laird was already doing it (backside!) twelve years ago already...
The photo is very deep on a big wave. The videos are not even close to the size or how deep he is. would be interesting to find out if he made it. Sick shot.
Definitely not news...
This is the best damn barrel shot I have ever seen of a sup, to me thats news!!
And yes I know people have been supping teahupoo for a long time but this shot is pretty special it's more a tow-in level wave.
Ive been bodyboarding out there a solid 10 and Laird and one of the local blokes, name goes past me, were paddling into bombs on paddle boards. I think they were just in front of the barrell but it blew my mind at the time. No footage of it but they would catch them waves easy and pull off them easy. Margin of error out there on a sup is millimeters. This was back in 2011. This photo looks next level.
Matahi drollet with a mad late drop and keg out there last week too

Yea, Nainoaiki David on a ridiculous slab, and he's deep. One of the best SUP shots I've seen.

screengrab for the non-inatsgammers?
Yup, there is more in the news of the day on the Gong site. David Rodal Santiago is now a Gong team rider, and is on these pics on a prototype (A 7'2" x 24" x 65l Gong Alley, close to the production model of the same dims, which he also has), and plans to have specific big-wave SUP guns shaped by Patrice.
David is chasing big waves in his home in Tenerife, so I guess we will see more pics and videos of him in gnarly conditions.
