Plan A is to go from somewhere around Anglesea to Torquay.
Plan B is to go from Barwon Heads to Torquay.
Plan C - we're still working on that one.

There is no definitive schedule yet. Surfing Victoria will announce when the weather forecasts are a bit clearer.

There will inevitably be events on both days. It's impossible to do the surfing and both races on the one day. We were forced to do it last year and it sucked.

it was hard on the crew that did both.
Just trying to get a idea if I should register for an event so I don't get the wrong day and waste some money.

Hey PT,

Is it definatly 12'6" for the elite guys in the marathon?

Okay, well the plan from Surfing Australia is that 12'6" is designated as the Elite category as that is the category that qualifies you for the ISA World Titles. However, some of the top racers from NSW and QLD may well choose to race 14', particularly if they have no interest in being selected for the World Titles team.

I just turned 72 last weekend. I feel left out competing in the over 50's event, I don't stand a chance against those young bludgers. Any chance of speaking to surf Vic and creating an over 70's division?

I've never won a trophy or ribbon in my life, and since giving up the booze and the smokes on my 60th birthday and working out every day, I think I could give this a real shot. It would be great to have some proof, and some gopro video, for my grand kids that their pop didn't come third or fourth in sporting events during his entire life.

isn't that what old guys in sports like this do? just keep on jerrymandering the age divisions upwards when the competition catches up?

It's actually what all sports (that are interested in maintaining participation and activity) do.

Plan C is hope Plan A or B work for the wind direction! And prey for anything but a SE wind! A SE wind would be a pure DEVIL wind! [}:)]

It was a dawn start last year, from Ocean Grove RAAF's, near Barwon Heads. Light winds at dawn, typically.

Have you looked at the forecast?

We may need a genuine Plan C. But don't worry, I've got a cunning plan.

LOL if I was still in Melbourne Woody I would tip ice in your shorts.

I meant run the race closer to the Nationals instead of Feb.
