Are you sure the surfing is Monday? I'm in the first heat so don't want to drive from Sunny Coast early Sunday if it's not on until Monday. I tried to ph the hot line but got an old recording.
and a few of those are entered in the open division as well. Couple of big names missing from the open surfing , I guess they are banking on the wild cards.
I don't get it it's a queensland event. Why can nsw sups enter? I think it's unfare for the state even if the nsw sups don't qualify. Please fill me in because I think it's bull****.
Surfing Australia in their wisdom decided that to encourage numbers they would allow interstate competitors to compete in other State's comps. QLDers went in our State titles as well.
Judging by the numbers in the open (15) they need as many as they can get. Hell we get 30 at our club comps.

I. Think it's great they let anyone in these comps it boost the numbers which is what everyone wants surfing Queensland are putting on an event that decides state selection and lets face it I'm very surprised only 16 opens have entered not that much local support ? I would expected the numbers to be higher consistering the great event and being on a weekend also without a few out of state guys entered the numbers would be even lower...

Funny that no one had an issue about it at the Roar comp in 2010 which was the selection comp for the Aussies. NSW guys got 4,5 and 6th in that one. Fark it's not the olympics and the sport is young and struggling with numbers anyway.
For me personally it's another comp against high quality guys (some of the world's best) and a chance to catch up with some good crew and meet a few of these guys on here. I'll probably get flicked early anyways.

if there are 16 in each event open and over 40's, how many are doubling up in both? how many are not from QLD?, Goatman was saying there are 30 that rock up to a club meeting, why the lesser numbers turning out to the event, I think the same thing happened at Vic titles, re doubling up and low turnout.
Advertising not getting through, cost of entry, age classifications a barrier, I know at the age of 56 to compete in an over 40's unless its for fun is pointless, better to find an uncrowded break somewhere and get surfed out elsewhere and save the $110
