Been out of the surf SUP loop for a bit and looking for a new board as my old one is, well.... old
90/95kg experienced rider, surf pretty well if i do say so myself.
looking for a shortboard SUP for clean(ish) waves waist high and up
usually go the naish route, but they seem pretty non existent everywhere.
like the look of the sunova Creek and Steeze boards, but again
trying to find one in stock is a nightmare and kind of want something now
Any suggestions....?

i think I'll need something with a bit more volume, haven't tried anything in under 130ltrs in a while, mates dropping one off for me to try tomorrow that's 125ltrs
hey ,doc .a heap of Sunova board coming to Oz next month 8,7 placid is a good all rounder ,has the stability of a 130 ,but the free moving of a smaller board ,great board ,I'm also your weight .its 126 litre 31,5 ,wide .
Hi mate, I am around your weight and 6'3 been riding surf SUPs for around eight months, and thirty odd years of surfing. I just picked up a Naish Maddog 9'0 x32 at 145 litres and had my first surf on it yesterday. Whilst the waves were very average it gave a few moments when it showed it's potential. It might be hard to find but a small shipment just arrived in OZ so give your local shop, or give the importer a call.
The Naish looks great in the flesh and it comes with a nice set of fins. I was looking at getting a Sunova Creek in 9'1 or as per the Creeks designers himself size up to a 9'4. Unfortunately the local shop selling the Sunova closed its doors for good just before I finalised the deal. So my other local store had just ordered a Maddog so I only had a few weeks wait. I noticed that WSS board store in Manly is showing a 9'5 Maddog in stock if that helps.
I am heading out hopefully another surf now and will add some more thoughts on the Maddog in the board talk forum later.

tossing up between the 8'7" and 9'1" placid
rode a 8'8" smik spitfire v2 today that was really comfortable at 135ltrs
just wondering if the loss of 10ltrs going the 8'7" is going to hurt more than going up 10ltrs in 9'1"

If in doubt, Volume is your friend
IMHO the Placid is super stable for size and volume. I'm 85kg and have an 8'7, but could happily have gone to the 8'3 or shorter in reality. Mine is super stable in chop and dodgy conditions and I've done a couple of 2km plus coastal tours on it over the summer, so feels like a real allrounder for me.
If I was looking purely to shred, I would have definitely gone smaller.

hey Doc ,the 9,1 is a boat ...Its for big guys ,creek who is 107 kg found it big ,so is happy on the 8,10 now
i'm 97 kgs now 
and 8,7 placid is holding me well up ...i also like Haddock can taken it for 2-4 km paddles ,
the 8,7 is stable ,and loose ...I have a 126 litre flow too and it is no where near as stable ...its all in the shape and width.
made for clumsy old men like me ..I also think the 8,6 smik twin is a good choice too, also 31,5 wide ...you will advance
quicker in getting rad ,with a shorter wider board .
where where those beer waves again ..?
Have you looked into the Starboard Hypernut? You can go short but still keep the stability, and it handles bigger waves as well.
Now I must advise you to take this with a grain of salt, I haven't owned one but have ridden one and looking at adding one to my quiver so i've watched a few reviews on them.

Would like to give 1 of these a crack in some juice, Price of these boards is restrictive/ridiculous though. I'll stick to buying customs. a couple of days wages cheaper
