Could be fun. No doubt, the level of skill will be fairly low to start but if it works, I think this could really evolve with some people doing some awesome tricks given a bit of time to develop and train. Great idea guys.
This is going to be a lot of fun, a world first.
We will be looking for complexity of tricks, humor value and general gymnastic ability.
Piouettes, forward rolls, headstands, splits will all get you bonus points.
If you want to use a prop, no probs.
Only one week tp go to the St Kilda festival and Suplove Freestyle.
It has never been done before, anyone can do it and the only certainty with an event of this type is that there will be raptures of laughs and excitement.
History will be made on February 12 at 10.30am when the world's first freestyle stand up paddle boarding competition takes centre stage as part of the St Kilda Festival.
Competitors will be judged on artistic expression, skill on a Sup, interpretation, innovation and creativity. Over 500,000 people attend the St Kilda Fest and the event has been running for 31 years.
SupLove's Stuart Murray invented the event while thinking of a way in which he can entertain hundreds of backpackers and SUP enthusiasts expected to turn up to watch Stand Up Paddle boarding demonstrations and races running as part of the festival.
“We wanted to do something which would bring people who have never seen a S.U.P to the event and straight into the water and into competition,”
Combine a SUP big board, flat water and your funkiest disco, gym, rap and acrobatic moves. What do you get? Suplove Freestyle S.U.P.
