Oh what the hell, I haven't paddled a race board in months but I see there is a few old blokes entered so I'm in, email sent.
I find it hard to get motivated for a paddle in this weather unless it involves waves.
Whilst SB isn't showing it yet, BoM forecast for Saturday isn't looking promising for SUP (30-40kts) ...when will a final/definite decision be made about the racing?
Hi Juddy
we are monitoring the weather. The SUP5000 is a fun first time event, it's not fun in 20kt+ breeze for everyone. We also know the BOM isn't always right (look at yesterday afternoon - glass off), so we will make a final decision at 6pm Friday afternoon.
If the we don't race the event will be moved to a date in late August.
Goochi is right, you can't trust the forecasts at this time of year, especially this far out.
I had an awesome sunset paddle yesterday arvo on the ocean, as the sun was setting to the West the full moon was rising in the East and the water was like butter.
If it is as strong as forecast maybe we could do a river DWer instead, Pt Walter to Narrows or something.
Definitely keen for a river DWer if the forecast stays true, lets hope not though! Looking forward to this one!
Hi Everyone
Due to storm and high winds the SUP5000 will be postponed until late August.
New details about the race will be posted in the next couple of weeks - we are looking at Saturday the 24th of August - TBC
For those keen to race enter in the Avon Challenge next weekend - 7km race in the beautiful upper Swan area.
Cheers
Greg
