Went last year, wind was an issue, also painful accessing breaks due to distance offshore and having to pay villages every where you went. As for your question not sure, I think Downwinder has spent a bit of time there.

Take lots of boards....they do not last long in Samoa if you get it good - with limited options to fix a good break. Waves can be insane and wind as well. Like lots of the Pacific it can be a frustrating place to visit but when you get it on its on and you will enjoy yourself immensely.

Went in July this year. Not for beginners most of the waves are hectic unforgiving reef breaks. We didnt score epic waves and the wind was an issue by mid morning. We were a bit disappointed with the wave quality however that was more about the conditions as the place obviously has potential. Only took my 7'4" JP PRO and that was fine for me. Reasonably priced place to visit but not with the family I thought Fiji was better.
