SUPVIC/PSUPS Forthcoming Event - the PENINSULA CLASSIC is coming up on November 23rd (Pt Leo or Flinders, depending on conditions). For competitive surfers this will be a qualifying pathway to 2015 State SUP Surf Titles. AND there will be a division for novices if conditions permit.
Registration will be open about a week before the event (we'll send out a reminder). In the meantime fish your springie out of the shed and give it a good wash!

I don't want to get too excited but forecast is starting to line up.
This could be a Pt Leo Spectacular like the last event there, but this time less wind!
28 degrees, light W wind and 3' to 4'.

Kids now have a pool of 2 surfboards to share and they're itching to get them wet. Just the segway to getting down there. I'm sure I can squeeze my board on the roof as well...

Hey there,
Any chance I can enter on the morning?
I just got the o.k. to go for a paddle from my doctor after getting the pins out of my hand, and was going to see if it can handle it on Saturday morning.

Whats the drill guys?
Looking at catching the three o clock ferry, setting up camp at Pt Leo and then maybe having a sniff round Gunna
Small but quality waves here this morning, must be similar on the East side if not a little bigger?
Cheers

Just waiting on the call...
Hey Guys,
I have just had a surf at gunna, bit windy but fun size waves. The swell looks to be dropping a tad, so it looks like we will be surfing the ocean beaches. The predicted light west wind is not the offshore we had hoped for, but it is only meant to be 6 to 7 knots. I'm just waiting on a call from PSUP to see what the Portsea banks are doing. If it's not Portsea, it will be Gunna Second car park. More to come soon.
The call is...
PORTSEA
Repeat:
PORTSEA
First Carpark above the Lifesaving Club

Heats to start shortly after.
See you there!![]()

A great day's surfing at Portsea today..blue skies, bright sunshine and mid-20's temps. On-water conditions a little challenging in 3-4ft with a rising onshore 'breeze' during the afternoon, the vibe was excellent during the whole day and everyone was full of Stoke (24 competitors plus friends, family and onlookers). Very gratifying to have such a great crew and great sense of community going on.
Before I get to the results there are a few thank yous for the efforts put in today:
Jeff and Lynda Lim of Peninsula Stand Up Paddle (PSUPS) for their generous support of the event and assistance in organising, including finding a highly professional independent Head Judge;
Brian Thompson - Head Judge;
Kathy Naoumidis - tallying scores, registrations, transport
Chris Clarke - invaluable technical advice in the lead-up to the event and on the day
George Thomas - Sausage cookin'
Julie from Parks Vic for help and advice on permits
MJ and Al for impromptu supply runs
and all the crew who helped out with judging throughout the day and setup/cleanup and the start and end
Here are the podium results:
Open Women:
1 Emma Webb
2 Kathy Naoumidis
3 Trudi Ersvaer
Juniors:
1 Kenta Fergusson
2 Toby Bishop
Open Men:
1 Kenta Fergusson (keep an eye on this kid, he's not yet 15...)
2 Chris Clarke (O/40)
3 John Takle (O/50)
Pics of the day will follow when we've sorted them all out...here's one of the podium
(**what was very cool was the 2 bunches of too-cool-for-skool shortboard riders who hung around for a few hours to watch the action...they left with a different take on SUP surfing than when they came, I reckon...)
