Hi all,

Please find attached the information poster regarding SUPSA's “SUPerstar Coaching Clinic” for Saturday 30th June 2012.

With a huge demand from SUPSA Members and the general paddling public for a paddling coaching clinic, we are quite fortunate to announce the following coaches/trainers who will be on hand to offer their invaluable coaching advice and paddling tips for those who are looking to further their skills and confidence in Stand up Paddling.

Peter Dorries – A hugely decorated career in Surf Lifesaving and Outrigger Canoeing. From competing at around 9 years old and building a coaching profession since 1989 with a stable of State, Australian and World Champion athletes, Pete himself was no slouch with a board, a ski or even swimming. A QLD State Iron Man Champion in the age of the “Uncle Toby's” era, numerous Sate and Australian medals in all disciplines, and a plethora of medals at elite level of 1-man and 6-man Canoeing Australia and World Wide. He has now built a reputation as one of the top Stand up Paddle Coaches on the planet with 4-5 of the world's best paddling athletes under his guidance.

Kelly Margetts – He too has come from a surfing and Surf Lifesaving back ground. Kelly's record as a competitor speaks for itself and fresh from an international victory in Florida in the Paddle for Humanity Race. He had a very successful QLD and NSW State Titles campaign which will see him represent QLD at the Australia SUP Titles later this year. His international results are incredibly solid with multiple top 10 finishes in the Battle of the Paddle events and his 6th place at the most recent Quiksilver Watermans Contest in Hawaii. He came in at number 7 of the World's Best Paddling Athletes of 2011 and with his current form will again see him firmly cementing a top ten seeding. Kelly also houses a very strong and world class paddling group under his direction.

Beau O'Brian – Beau has freshly burst on to the scene of Stand up Paddling. Although no stranger to a paddle, Beau had already built a reputation as one of Australia's top Surf Lifesaving competitive Ski Paddlers. His accolades also stretch into flat water Kayaking and is one of the strongest Out-rigger Canoeists in the country. Beau's transition to SUP has been a very quick climb to the top and is considered one of the very best in Australia. His competitive results of a successful NSW campaign and his history creating clean sweep of the QLD State SUP Titles will likely create a confidence in him to win an international major in the very near future.

Angela Jackson – This seasoned competitor and world jet setter has seen Angie compete in some of the most grueling Paddling Events on the planet. An Australia Representative in Peru earlier this year has made her hungrier for paddling success. Considered one of the best female paddlers in Australia, her international results are building rapidly and currently see's her sitting around the number 5 position in the world. With a swag of World Championship Medals from Peru and her 4th place in the recent Quiksilver Waterman's Event in Hawaii, Ange has set the bench mark for women's paddling in Australia.

This is absolutely huge for SUPSA to have these 4 above mentioned paddlers to come together for a once off complete training and Coaching Clinic.

SUPSA (being the Gold Coast based SUP club) won't be organising such an event on the Sunshine Coast (it's not our territory and the local club up there is doing some great things for the sport already) but we are welcoming visitors from other areas if you wish to come down and join us for the day.

Thanks Ali, I am aware of the Sunshine Coast Clubs and what they do. However, I am not into the club scene. I am a dedicated paddler and have been for the last five years.
My interest was to get some recent pointers from the likes of Peter Dorries. I am aslo interested in some offshore paddling pointers.
I may come down to the Gold Coast for your event but thought I would pose the question re Sunshine Coast.
Thanks again.

For those who are wanting to be part of the SUPerstar Paddle Coaching Clinic, better get your entry in as spots are starting to fill up.

This is limited to 40 participants.

This is the perfect opportunity to learn new skills and receive tips and advice from the best in the business. To have the experience and knowledge of coaches Peter Dorries, Kelly Margetts, Beau O'Brian and Angie Jackson to come together for this once off coaching clinic is fantastic, and not to be missed!

If you're still thinking about whether to do this clinic or not, there's not a lot of time left!
Once off opportunity to learn from some of the best coaches & athletes in Australia all at once - this opportunity may not come around again!

Only 3 days to go and there's still some places left!!!

With the format of the clinic dividing participants up into 3 separate groups, rotating between the coaches, we are able to cater for all levels/abilities of paddlers (you must bring your own board/paddle) wishing to improve their skill.

Whether you're a recreational paddler wishing to improve your technique to increase paddling efficiency and/or reduce soreness or the chance of injury or a seasoned competitor looking for the edge in your next race, you will be able to benefit from the experience and knowledge of the coaches on the day.

It's shaping up to be a great day (and the rain is forecast to stop by the weekend!) so come along and join in.

Big thanks to Troy, Pete, Kelly, Angie and Ali for a great day. Appreciate the one on one advice and the little tips and tricks to assist with racing, training and paddling the best you can.
I really recommend these clinics to all paddlers.
