I'm looking at getting a SUP to do a little fishing off whilst not being a complete pig in the surf.
Was wondering if anyone else has any recommendations on dimensions ?
Ive heard people of using Naish Nalus and Surftech Generators .
I'm 5'8' and 80kgs currently riding a LSD 8'8" Shorty .
Any other recommendations on makes / sizing ?

I remember someone being a complete pig in the surf on a recent trip to Fiji ... but we'll leave those Stokes out of this. ![]()
Thanks for the responses.
SteveM74 : I assume that's the 10'6 Nalu ? Which is about , 30" wide (?) . Can you cast off it or is it more for transport to spots?
Maxeaus: Pretty much the same question . I assume that's a 12'6" , so i'm guessing it's about 28" wide(?). Do you find that stable enough to cast off, or once again , is it pretty much to get you to where you fish ? ( nice set up by the way. I assume you could keep a couple of cans in that bag too?)
Also how do the two of you go when you hook up?
Sharper : If I remember correctly , you were too deep! There's NO way that YOU would have made it!!![]()

I've attached lugs and shock cord to the nose of my nalu. So far I've only trolled off it a few times (unsuccessfully), but it's great for paddling out to the abalone and cray reefs with snorkeling gear. ![]()
Rather than pay $200 odd for the shade cloth and pvc fishing box, use a 25 litre blue esky. a couple of lengths of 40mm pvc for rod holders and attach it to the board via tie down points. When i get home I'll try to put up some pics.
I haven't cast from mine, which is 31 wide, but have successfully caught fish trolling. Not many yet but need to get back on it.
Starboard Atlas 12' x 33" - You can tour, fish and surf on it. Room for an esky too!
I even know of one for sale... ![]()
Yeh mate
I have cast from it for flatties. Goes alright in clean conditions however wouldnt fish it in windy chop.
Be great for the laes round Robina and waterways on a good day.
