Don't forget you have to enter online before the event so heat draws can be completed, please understand that no entries will be accepted on the day, sorry.... there has some great conditions on the west coast lately so if that continues expect to see some cool surf'n from the local Victorian surf sup crew..

I'm in, paid online and all. you guys better deliver some good waves for $25 and what? no free sausages.how about a coffee van

On a more serious note, great thought is needed to venue as catering for broad skill levels in predicted largish swell, where to locals?
see you there?

Further details for location, etc will be provided later in the week when the forecast is a bit more accurate than the wild quesstimate it currently is.
The range of skills of the entrants will be taken into consideration when determining a location.
If only it were as easy as picking the best location for the given conditions and setting up there on the day.....the majority of the land managers down the West Coast will not allow us that freedom
Now might be a good time to start with the sacrificial offerings to Huey for contestable conditions

Hi Guys as contest director with the current forecast 6 - 7m about twice the size of the last comp and 25kn cross shore or onshore the Winter Classic will be on hold until next weekend 28th July

Whilst it may not get to this size even at 5m it is way beyond the scope of our OHS requirements.

The reason we have made the call early is simple we are trying to give people that have booked accommodation time to cancel or transfer to next weekend.

Phill.

Mick we have surfed the bombies at up to 4-5m if you want value for money and it possible to go out happy to take you!

Mick this is Kristi about to be swallowed and washing machined at 13th when it was 4.2m and 30kn offshore, cross shore or worse onshore is impossible at this size.

Good Call Phil, its never easy trying to please everyone, but the big swell and onshore winds conditions as predicted dictate, then the postponement of the event is the only sensible and safe outcome available.

Hey Phil
I could be wrong, but I think you have misunderstood what I was eluding to. Forget the money, the first paragraph was a hopeless attempt at tongue in cheek humour (I should have known better). The second paragraph was more thoughtfulness of others that may be put off the contest scene if conducted in similar size as Autumn comp.
Thanks for the offer Phil, but I'll be the first to admit 3-5ft is fun, 6-8ft doable but after that its survival for me.

Understand the need for an early call and thanks guys, as I would have entered for this weekend but can't make the 28th. With the run of great days we've been having on both the E and W coasts lately, hopefully, you will get really good conditions then.

I was looking forward to it, but I suppose the upside for me is that I can now pack my suitcase this Sunday rather than wearing whitewater on the head!

I'll check the results/pics from New York.

Oh well....it would of been hard to drag myself down to a comp for crappy conditions when we all know other
spots will be firing. I think on an enjoyment and safety level the right decision has been made.

Fingers crossed the following weekend can deliver.

Bummer the forecasted conditions have forced the surf event to be postponed
So that the weekend is not a total write off we are going to run the planned BOP race as a club training session, including race/s down around Pt Leo.
Given the forecast, there should be plenty of swell to make it challenging.
Anyone hoping to be chosen to represent Vic at the National titles later in the year should make an effort to be there.
Everyone is welcome and if you do not own a 12'6" race board there will most likely be a couple of spares floating around.
There should also be a few inflatable 12'6" boards available to use.
If you would prefer to paddle something else (14', unlimited or all rounder) go for it.
Further details will be provided later in the week

Well boys and girls the forecast did change the wind went offshore but the size didn't, even in protected locations like Posso's it solid 6 with 8+ on the sets. When we drove past 13th not one car in any car park until you hit Black Rock.

We wanted to hit the Bombies but no hope of getting out!

This was shot at Posso's inners 9.30am

Roll on next Sat.

Hi Phill, For some reason as I got further around the size dropped and when the strong offshore hit it became even smaller. At 8.30 Pt. Danger was 4 to 6 with one stand upper out and about three shortboarders on each peak. Fishos was about 3 ft. and pumping. I surfed a shore break a little further around from Fishos that looked like Photos in Crunchies except going both ways with a massive sweep. Around 10.30 the wind really did crank up and it became awfully hard going. I was amazed at the lack of crowds? I suppose the colder weather had something to do with that. I'm spewin cause I can't make next week unless they change all the hockey fixtures. My weekend with the kids. Good luck and have fun to all. Catch up with you all soon!! I would have certainly added to financial coffers of Supvic through overeating. Still might if the kids want to come down after their games.

Having registered once, do I now have to register again?
Hope I'm wrong but as far as surf goes the north coast of Tassie looks good for a bit of wind swell. Round here looks like being as flat as a sh.t carters hat with an offshore wind strong enough to blow your eyelids inside out!!!
Cheers

Mmmm!
Maybe a bit hasty on the surf prediction...lets just say the current swell models are divergent.
Stay tuned!

No need to re-register if already done last week
An email will go out to everyone that registered last week to confirm they still wish to participate in the rescheduled event.

Fingers crossed the forecast is wrong!!
