We are a bit behind the rest of the world but finally a Stand up paddle race series is underway in Christchurch New Zealand.

Run as part of the Surf N Turf Ocean swim series there are 8 races taking place on wednesday nights over December and January.

Classes are:

12'6 raceboards

Open mens
Masters (Over 40) mens

Open womans
Masters (Over 40) womans

Junior (under 20)

The first race was held last week at the new Pegasus Lake in Pegasus town with a small turn out but everyone had heaps of fun.

Race 2 is tonight (Wednesday 15th) at Corsair Bay in Lyttleton Harbour. Everyone is welcome no matter what board you ride or ability. Last week was a real mix of gear and paddlers ranging in age from around 20 to much much older!!

Any board will do. Only 2 actual race boards made it to the first race so your 10ft + surf sup will do just fine.

Prizes are up for grabs too!

Check out all the details on the official website:

http://www.surfnturf.co.nz/

and a couple of pics from last weeks windy cold race!

BP is still dreaming about buying a race board. That will take about 2000 more posts to choose the right one I reckon

Great Pics from last nights race! Any chance the photographer could email them to us so we can get them onto the event website kiwifit(a)xtra.co.nz

Would be good to get a few more people there in the new year!
