8km & 17km SUP races this weekend being held by AOCRA in conjunction with their SE QLD OC1 & OC2 racing series. First race Redcliffe peninsular. Online entries only by 12:00 noon Friday 11th August.

Says it's an out and back course. I don't know anything about these races but I thought with over 20 knots of South wind forecast that a straight downwind course would get more SUP racers interested...
I agree. What you have to remember is that AOCRA event are run by local Outrigging clubs to race and are for the OC1 and OC2 race series. Ski's and SUP's are just an add on out of the goodness of their hearts with the clubs already having the permit and boats, etc there on the day ( and raise funds for the clubs).
Whilst some SUP racers paddle outriggers as did the Gold Coast crew so successesfully this year, very few serious outriggers paddle SUP's also save a few like Travis. I feel that SUP paddling is a more complete all over workout than just Outrigging.
I'll wait until the noon Friday deadline to decide if I'll paddle, forecast looks poor for the offered course.
