We've got a crew heading up to Fiji in May, with the aim of having a week of SUP competition. All on the same board (which we'll provide) so as to make it 'one design' racing, but doing a different discipline each day; downwind, surf, sprints, technical, and a proper river race too. All based at a very cool waterfront resort on the Coral Coast (so super convenient for airport, transfers, etc.) It is NOT some sort of endurance event, just the one race per day to give the week a theme. The aim of the event is having fun. It is NOT about hardcore racing.. There will be lots of time for relaxing, surfing (conditions permitting) and doing all the other great things on offer in Fiji. And it will be very social as everyone will be in the same resort.
And the week before will be completely non competitive; just training for those that want it, and as much chilled paddling as you want. And we'll do the river run that week too - it's an absolutely awesome grade 1 river right down through the mountains, about 2 hours of incredible scenic paddling with just a few white water stretches to keep it fun, but well within the capabilities of even fairly novice paddlers. So if you've never done a river paddle before, here is the perfect opportunity!
Assuming that there is a bit of surf about, the break out in front of the resort is absolutely perfect for beginner sup surfers. We took a party there last year, with several who had never surfed before, they all were catching waves.
We have the capacity for more people, so thought we would put it out to the wider audience - anybody interested? Newcomers to SUP competition will be very welcome! And the big deal is that you don't need to bring your own raceboards, we provide them.
