A lot has been said on this forum recently about SUNOVA boards etc with some of it being glowing and supportive others a bit polarizing and some even degenerating into the rather strange which I hope has not depreciated and or undermined what was a great outcome for the owner with Sunova providing said owner with a new board.
Before going further, I would like to say that I have no affiliation at all with Sunova other than previously purchasing two of their boards second-hand last year, an 8'4" Flow and an 8'8" Acid. I subsequently wrote a review of my thoughts pertaining to those boards on here back in July.
Just before Christmas my Acid board had a bottom deck delamination issue. To be honest my expectations, given that the board was a few years old etc, was really just to try and have it fixed as best I could and use it as a backup board and purchase a new one.
I decided to wait until after Christmas before I contacted Sunova directly via email and was very pleased to receive a reply from Tino, Sunova's Technical / Sales Manager, within a few hours. Suffice to say that I was blow away with the forthright and friendly manner in which Tino approached this issue with the end result being that Sunova agreed to replace my Acid board with a brand new one which arrived very promptly at Core Board-sports in Geelong last week.
Now I don't know about you guys but for me this certainly substantiated yet again how glad I am to have chosen to purchase and ride Sunova boards. Firstly, they are in my opinion an exceptionally good product in themselves, designed by a world class shaper, manufactured to a very high quality and standard and now for me just as importantly backed up by outstanding and superior customer support and service. I would contend that you cannot ask for and or expect anything more from your board supplier than that.
Thank you Tino and all of the Team at Sunova and your affiliated suppliers here in Australia. I will certainly be highly recommending the Sunova brand to any and all surfers that I come in contact with.

Meh.
New Sunova owner. Picked the board up Wednesday (25th Jan). Speeed 9'5.
Love the board. Only had an hour on it that arvo and i was very happy. It has a learning curve, especially for someone of my weight and limited ability, but i am happy with its performance nonetheless.
I bought this board after trialling at Merimbula. Where i broke one. Caved the nose in.
I paid for the repair on a demo board because i am a good guy (so i would like to think at least sometimes).
Then i bought one.
I would have thought, with all the glowing praise that i see here of Sunova's customer service that they would have come to the party on the repair.
But they didnt.
So thats why i say "meh"
Good for them for making good boards.... but they haven't exactly brought in a family member here... a goal about which i get the impression they are trying to achieve.
Wrong, if you put a board out for demo and it gets damaged as the rep for the company you show your professionalism and good will and send it back to your outlet to get it fixed professionally. You then sell it at a marginally reduced price as a demonstrator in the knowledge that the board in question helped sell 50 other boards. It should have been covered by public liability insurance. That is not Sunova's fault and very odd that the sales rep didn't do that, unless of course you stoved it in with a hammer. I hear their customer service is normally second to none. ![]()
You break it - you pay for it
Thats why i paid.
But in my business, when i have a customer that messes up and it compromises the integrity of their product, a lot of the time ill replace it for free, acknowledging that i look forward to their ongoing custom.
You purchased 2 second hand boards.Boards that were a few years old and Sunova sent you a brand new replacement board because 1 of the 2 2nd hand boards that were a few years old had a small delam issue?
Garbage! I call BS.
That would be the fastest way to going bust.
Mate you can call it whatever you want but I would not have put up my post if it were not true.
By the way I had a great first surf on my new 8'7" Acid today and after a few more surfs will write a review on what I think of it as the tail shape is slightly different to the 8'8" I had previously.
Oh and thanks again Sunova.
