SPSC CHRISTMAS CONTEST. SUNDAY 14TH DECEMBER
Hi All,
Christmas is just around the corner and so is our family Christmas contest up at Palm Beach. Starting at 7:15am with the first heat in the water at 8am.
It is looking like this comp will be jam packed from start to finish with all sorts of fun in the sun. The normal contest will be run and pre registration will be available prior to the day. It will be a heavily Christmas themed day with Santa, reindeer, food and drinks and a few other things "floating" around for the kids to play on.
We are stoked to announce the "JOUST" tag team event will take place for the first time during the contest. This is a team event including BOP and surfing in a tag team format. It is going to make for some great viewing.
Come down and meet SUP legend Dave Kalama who will be at the event. Dave will be there around 8am so make sure you arrive nice and early.
The pre registration for mebers and non members will have the option to select the JOUST if you want to be in one of the teams.
There will also be some great gear to try out from our generous sponsors.
If you have not yet joined the club please try to do this before the day via the Tidy Club link. All ages and ability levels welcome.
There will be healthy food provided on the day, included in your entry / membership fee.
There will also be a lucky door prize. To be eligible for this prize you will need to be a member of SPSC and you must be present at the end of the day's competition.
Everyone is welcome so please get on line, register and share this with your friends.

Yeeeew - can't wait.
Here's some info from the SUP Joust contest director, Boj Stokes:
Heat time: 60 minutes.
Team format: 4 x male SUP surfers, 1 x female SUP surfer, 1 x BOP paddler.
Waves counted per surfer: 3 (with all waves surfed being scored).
Heat rules: After first hooter, BOP paddler races from the hot box, around the marker buoy and back to the beach to tap paddles with the first surfer in the hot box. This surfer then catches 3 waves and returns to the hot box to tap paddles with the next surfer. This continues until all surfers have caught their 3 waves. Each surfer has to manage their own time but has approximately 10 minutes to catch their three waves. Boards and paddles must be carried at all times.
Double whammy rules: One surfer is pre-allocated this role and picks their best wave by raising their paddle above their head at the conclusion of that wave. The score for this wave will be doubled.
Finishing bonus: 3 points if all team members have returned to the hot box by the final hooter.
Interference penalty: 8 points will be deducted from the offending team's total.
Teams will be decided by the SPSC contest director and be based on seedings to ensure evenness.
Pretty stoked about this weekends comp. It is going to be all sort of fun and froth. There will 2 inflatable reindeer on a pontoon out the back and if during the tag team you can surf a wave with the reindeer...its double points.... yewwwwwww
See you on Sunday :)
Do we just give the green jacket to Dave now or do we think Casso is still a chance ![]()
Dave is more than likely just going in the Joust..although if he does surf in the heats it will make it pretty fun
