Our second last event (#5) in the 2011/2012 season is coming up this Sunday, 1st April (changed from the 8th due to Easter). This will be at Long Reef Beach, starting at 7:30am and we'll be in front of the lagoon somewhere.
The conditions are looking epic again - medium swell, off-shore winds and plenty of sunshine.

- 8:00 am - Cut off for surfing competition entries, heats drawn up for surfing competition
- 8:20 am - Round one of surfing competition starts
- 10:30 am - Round two of surfing competition starts
- 11:30 am - Final of surfing competition starts

Andre will no doubt be providing a scrumptious feast as per usual.
All ages, sexes and levels of ability welcome. Single comp membership available (you don't need to sign up for the whole year).
Hope to see you on Sunday at Longy.
Often thought of coming down and having a go at one of your comp's but im definatly not a competition standard surfer. The guys in the videos that get posted are ripping. Just wondering if that skill level is standard or are the videos generally of the final.
When you say "all levels of ability welcome" I think I should come down & give it a go but.................
Yep, my 11yo goes in most of them, you are guaranteed 2 surfs and a race and great food! Always a cracker of a day![]()
With the forcast looking on the small side will be a good first comp to go in and meet some new people etc a good day had by all....
Also being the contest director looks like we will be crossing the lagoon mouth and heading to the southern side towards the poles as there is a good bank down there and should keep us away from the main peak straight out in front of the carpark which will have us some space to move... With no dramas![]()
Mmmmmm..Not only the Goatman Casso, anyone who surfs well enough to get into the finals all the time
In a nutshell you don't have to be the best sup surfer at your local to join in the fun and meet other sup addicts at the comp.
Oh and don't forget the clocks change tonight, so unless you like sitting around in the dark and want to get there at 6.30, change your alarms/clocks tonight.

Here's some footage from the Oct comp last year to give you a laugh and let you know that even the best of them have their moments. Enjoy :o)
