I have a carbon Starboard (well used/travelled and I have lots of paint chips on tail ? From leg rope. Is it best to cover with fibreglass or paint and if paint what sort?
Thank you

Hi mate, I was after the same thing a while back and found it is Pantone 805C , but never got around to finding it. I just sanded it down a bit and shrugged it off.

Do not forget to cover the paint with a clear UV resistant varnish, to protect the paint.
You may even want to use a thin layer of epoxy resin over the paint for resistance, and then cover with a varnish layer to get the same look as the rest of the board.

You should be able to find online paint dealers that can provide paints in any pantone or RAL colors. Or some auto body shops have sensors that can determine the color of objects and sell you the proper paint.

Depends on how good a job you want. If chips are discoloured & not deep & you just want to cover the discoloured parts, then paint over.
If you want a smooth as new finish, then use masking tape around the outside of chips, sand over chips with a fine grade sand paper, wipe off dust. Then masking tape around again, cover with a good quality epoxy by brush, peel off tape as epoxy gels. After epoxy is well cured, re tape & sand epoxy till flush with surface, wipe off dust, re tape & spray paint over. Make sure you cover areas around the chips to avoid overspray.
