Hey all Victorian paddlers, here's the last event for the 2012/13 Victorian Flatwater Series.
This race was supposed to have run last Dec, but due to unfavourable conditions, a BOP event was held in it's place.
"The Last Stand" will see paddlers in certain divisions battling it out for the distinction of division winner, whilst giving other paddlers the opportunity to enjoy the shoulder to shoulder racing experience in the season ending race event.
In addition to the main race, there will also be a social race and a separate kids race [ conditions permitting ].

Stay tuned for course options from Prof Dean Elcoat.
This Sunday, Feb 24 is the RPS Last Stand, the final race of the Vicco Summer, and your last chance to get one up on your nearest rivals. Best of all, the weather forecast is looking absolutely brilliant, with sunshine, minimal wind and glassy water expected. Warwick is planning a spectator friendly 3 x 3km circuit course around Half Moon Bay so be sure to invite along your support crew to cheer you on. There will also be a kids race, sprint race, and a social race to run concurrently with the main event. If you haven't managed to get along to any race events this summer, well, this is the one you've been waiting for. But don't just take it from me. Check out these guys, who are clearly trying to cash in on the RPS action...

Due to the unforseen triathlon event scheduled at Sandringham [despite consulting the Vic Tri calender prior to the season event planning], the Last Stand/RPS/Sup Vic race will be re-located to Green Pt, Brighton. [Original home of the Sup Vic Great Melb Paddle].
Registration, briefing, race start will all remain as per the same start times.
Hey Warwick
According to the "Start to Finish website the turnaround point for the tri is Bent Parade which should leave full access to HMB? Anyone coming from the North could come down Bluff Road and head down any side street from Bayside crescent or south of there. The North point of the Bike turn is South road though the intersection through to Beach Road is usually clear.
Green Point is cool but not always as sheltered for the kids races etc.
I wish PT hadn't predicted such pristine conditions, I seem to remember similar long range forecasting with the last RPS event![]()
Looking forward to it, could be a ding dong family battle. Might have to grate some laxitives in the young fella's weetbix so he has something else to concentrate on during the race![]()

Thanks Mel,
I've read the "letter to residents" from the organisers and they will be blocking off from Balcome rd [Clock tower] to Hampton st, despite the turnaround being at MJ's street.
The weather looks pretty benign for Sun morning, so I reckon this time we're safe. ![]()
Didn't you enjoy the Bop conditions at the last RPS race??
Loved the authentic BOP style racing at your last event Wazza, I think the conditions were best described as "Challenging". Its an interesting phenomenon that after you fall off once in a race it seems so much easier to keep falling.
Nothing against Green Point, especially to the north with the iconic backdrop of the Brighton bathing boxes and sweeping views of the city skyline. It's just that the hallmark of RPS events at Half Moon Bay has been the ability to enjoy a post race ale(hard earned thirst) upstairs at the lifesaving club with its millon dollar views. I'm sure we will be back!! Most of all thanks to all the Vicco stores who put these events on cause we wouldn't have a sport without you.

Thanks Mel,
Just this weekend's race and the State Titles next weekend and then it's time for a breather. ![]()
It's always fun being an organiser [would love to be racing though!] and seeing the sense of achievement that every competitor takes away from participating in my events, even the tough Bop style one's.
See you and the family on Sunday.
