I think it's just everyone's out practising paddling 20km in side chop and head wind conditions to have time to comment

We had to paddle out side that island to get back to manly doing a dw run from straddie.

It wasnt a good course. 28 ks pretty much paddling on one side.

Those last ks around the island back to manly was brutal and that was only side on wind

Pray for no wind if your doing this one. Into the wind. Well it would be relentless in the bay.

Anything like the west wind dw er we did last friday would be closee to impossible

I hope they have a back up course as that current course would be near impossible if there was 15knots + wind .

I won't be here but i hope it's glassy and warm for you all.

ps, i will be Downwinding in Hood River before heading to Japan

Yeah it's a shame they couldn't organise a more point to point type course for the distance race. We have endless down wind direction options in southern moreton bay and northern moreton bay with many starting and finishing locations and these maps along with supporting information were given to SQ though they have decided to go with the "round green island" option instead.

The paddle from the marina to and around green island is pretty cool the waters around the island on a clear day are nothing short of amazing.
But I now pray for very light winds. If it's glassy at least everyone will be able to do it and enjoy it.
if it's 10 or so knots in any direction it will mean a few little bumps one way or the other which will make for a good challenging rece as paddlers will be picking there own lines north or south of the race line.
If it's 15kn or more in any direction forget it she will be a real grind of a paddle and not many will finish, none will enjoy it.

If it's howling on the day S'E. You will see a few come screaming through the middle of the course on their way from Cleveland to the port on one of our best down wind runs in the State

All I can say is that BrisSUP Club provided SQ with multiple options in multiple locations to best suit varying Brisbane conditions and the final decision was 100% in the hands of SQ.

I am glad I had to do the NSW title race.
The research work of Luke Maden and his team has, years after years, always been fantastic so that we could have good races .
I think SQ should start to have a look at what we are proposed in NSW when it comes to long distance racing.
Below are the different options we received some time before the event.
And you know what? It has been once again a great fun race.
Honestly everybody starts to wish Aussie title would happen anywhere but in Queensland where no flexibility seems to be on the agenda as it has been the case until now.

Looks like NSW had all conditions covered for their State Titles and fingers crossed for you Qlder's out there, no wind is pretty much the best you can hope for.

Yep totally agree Stimo, having races like The Doctor and KotC for qualifiers is so good and the flatwater 20 wasn't all that bad
Not sure it's going to be that easy to qualify for the BOP in the O50's though with only 1 spot on offer it was very much a photo finish in the first one of 3.

As much as we are hanging out for some downwind conditions I think we would be wise to start doing some upwind training but then we'd need twice as many beers after.
