If anyone is still in the metro area, and hasn't lost all faith in the local weather forecast ( after yesterdays' (Friday) "Strong wind warning"), then post your interest and we'll get a DW going for Sunday 1st, starting at Port ( South end of carpark) and finish at Swannie SLC. Aim to be in the water at 1600. Happy New Year !!

Hi Lach
Ended up doing a 20km time trial with kevin Saturday morning after our downwinder Friday, so I'd better stick around home. Hope the forecast for next Sunday is good!

Hey Adam, that was a really difficult slog you guys did to trigg in those conditions. hard to find the fun when it's side on slop and no wind!

Seems like there is a fair bit of secret squirrel training going on aroind the place, could be a few surprises in the upcoming races. Out of interest what time did you guys clock for 20km?

It was a very tough paddle. With the side wind and the slop I ended up cramping up down one side in my feet and my shoulder and neck. The onshore wind and swell ended up pushing me into scarbs and I had to drag my board up the beach from scarbs to trigg.
Not fun at all
Where did you do your 20km time trial? In the river or ocean?

Hi akhawk, I think some usually meet at swannie and leave a car then go to port but not sure as I have only done 2 and both times been dropped there and paddle home.

We did the 20km on the river, a beautiful glassy morning. Ended up taking 2:48 for me and Kevin was at least 10mins faster - pretty impressive given he had done 20kms on the ocean the day before. When I say time trial, it was more paddling to a set distance at 60% steady state, than full on. Good to get the distance out and find a suitable rhythm....lovely morning.

I'll be at Swannie at 1530 to take a load to Port ( can fit me and 3 others). Let me know who needs a lift. Hey Goochi, you guys are nucking futts !! Doing the 20k the morning after that Friday slog - that is seriously hard core !! My right side still hasn't recovered, and I only went to City !
