I have snapped three Sunova paddles and one Quickblade over the past three years in the waves. I'm thinking of a Kevlar paddle this time around- prior to the first Sunova I had a Kevlar king paddle that lasted 5 years. Unfortunately I can't get another king paddle. I don't care about weight and I prefer minimal flex. Just want something more durable.Any suggestions? I'm 75kg, and surf daily in Sunny Coast beach breaks. thanks in advance
Not sure where you have snapped your paddles, was it the actual shaft or at the neck where the shaft attaches to the blade. I have broken two Sunova paddles where the shaft attaches to the blade. Sunova replaced both as it was deemed a manufacturing fault. Full credit to them. I look after my paddles very carefully when out of the water as any deep scratch or nick in the shaft will compromise its strength. See the link with Jim Terrell of Quickblade.
Thanks TBM. Sunova was great with warranty replacements and the crew at surf fx on the Goldy were fantastic - they went above and beyond with the claims. The Sunovas all snapped at or close to the shaft and blade joint. QB just under my bottom hand on a turn. not having a crack at any brand, just looking for something more robust!
