i switched to glass paddles a few years ago and I no longer have sore shoulders after a long paddle, but am I loosing power compared to carbon paddles ?
im no rocket scientist, but is it possible that when paddle flexes it is absorbing energy and is then releases this energy as the paddle straightens ?

Yes

Is that yes to both questions DJ ?
and if so then if I want more power for short periods like BOP I'd be better bring out the carbon for the occasion.

Yes.. you're no rocket scientist..

Flexy shafts can help but I'd rather the stiffer shaft but small blade option.. Small blades tend to rip though the water before loading the joints to much.. What was the question again?..

I also think there's s big difference between a flexy/bendy shaft and a flexy/springy shaft..
