Hi all, Thought would share this with you.
There are a few of us going out on Sunday for a paddle with a bit of a difference.
Beginners are welcome.
Something a bit special and unusual to do this weekend.
Date: 17th March - Sunday morning
Start: 8am
Time: 2-3 hours.
Bring:
Sunscreen
Snacks
Water
Dry Bag
Leg Rope.
We are meeting at Fraser park on the esplanade at Golden Beach. If you get to the roundabout near the Medical Center you have gone too far. The park is right next to the Gemini Resort at Golden Beach. There is plenty of parking and coffee shops near by.
We are going to paddle across the passage to Bribie Island, which is about 1km so an easy paddle with the very favourable tides and winds.
Walk the boards about 20 meters across the island to the ocean and paddle down the front of bribie island to the WW2 northern spotlight tower. The photo is above.
From there we can have a look around and then head down 1km to Fort Walk where the major WW2 installations are.
Stopping here for a cuppa and something to eat if you have it on you. I will have my jetboil on me for making tea or coffee. You will need to bring your own water.
It is getting close to ANZAC day and what a better way to end summer with a paddle, swim and a chat.
Returning the same way. via the beachfront where there are normally dolphins and turtles. It will be almost low tide so the likelihood of Dolphins will be high.
See you all there. Be ready to go by 8.15am from Fraser Park on Sunday morning.

You may want to use this for flies :-)
Apparently zebra stripes messes with the compound eyes of biting insects...
