Some advice please - I have an adjustable carbon paddle and the locking mechanism has come away from the main shaft. Looks like it was glued there. What sort of glue should I use to repair?
I'd use 5 minute Araldite.
Clean both surfaces to remove salt residue.

5 minute araldite worked a treat. Kinda messy though (which was probably me)
masking tape and vinyl gloves are your friends :-)
BTW if you want to turn it into semi fixed, glue the shaft using a glue gun (heat both shaft ends first with a hair dryer) and tape the join.
I turned an adjustable paddle into fixed and it was heaps better. If you ever need to adjust it, just heat up the shaft.
Cheers Mark

Oops, I meant Nitrile. not Vinyl. Tape doesn't stick to nitril gloves.
The whole thing about fixed over adjustable paddle has me in a quandary. I find that in surf situations (particularly if its overhead or bigger) I'm shortening the paddle considerably down to just over 6ft (I'm 5ft 10) and lengthening when going for a flat water paddle. I'm finding the 'standard' formulae for paddle length a bit irrelevent
I'm in the same 'adjustable needs' camp and find that I would change paddle length between surf and normal paddle. I got a NOS 2017 Naish Kevlar at a great discounted price and it is the 'bees knees'. I have quite an extensive paddle distance between where I launch and surf and a single length is a compromise I don't like.
