The stand up paddle division, which will be contested over the first weekend of the festival, will include open men's and women's surfing events, plus a men's 10 foot plus division, and the five kilometre “battle of the paddle” race over a close-in course next to First Point. The SUPs weekend is being put together in conjunction with the Sunshine Coast SUPS Club, and is expected to attract a big field of regional and interstate paddlers.
Says Phil Jarratt: “We're stoked to have the Sunshine Coast SUPS Club on board to help us put together our opening weekend program, and particularly our Super SUPS Sunday. We've got the message that there are a large number of paddlers in South East Queensland who want to compete but can't take a week off work, so we're running all divisions to the end over the weekend, in what should be an incredible display of stand up paddle skills.”
This is going to be a top weekend and have already booked the van site. Now to teach the dog to stay on.....

Instead of age it is based more on style enhance the inclusion of he 10' plus division. Some of the older crew rip just as we'll as the young crew on shorter SUPs.
I know this is going to rock, but for me it sucks about the timing, I'm on the coast for about a month leading up to this, then have to head to Japan to do a boat show and will miss it :(

Well priced and right on the river to go for a paddle.
Still don't get the age divisons , last year the over 40's filled up very fast with a very long waiting lists. The over 40's at this years Aussies show cased just how good the old fellas are with some making the open mens semis.
My main gripe is , if you travel to this event you need to take two boards for the surfing side that's if you still own a surfing 10-0 , most are just canal tankers or raceboards.
$133 to enter in the opens , that's a very expensive T-Shirt for me.
I'm with you Piros, why no O40s, it is a huge potential group? I am guessing there are no reps so $133 for possibly one surf is a bit steep. Keen as to come to this one though.
Also from what I can gather all the surfing and racing is on the Sunday? Why not stretch it over 2 days and include an old blokes division.
