Hi fellows,

I am planning my next holiday destination and would appreciate some tips. Can you please name the name the place, the time of the year you have been there, pros and cons?

Place: Fiji (Malolo Island/Namotu left/Cloudbreak)
When: Aug
Pros: Perfect waves, plenty of options, manageable crowds if you avoid Cloundbreak. Great to push your limits as it offers some big surfing; Also good for kiting and normal surfing;
Cons: Taking the ferry to Malolo Island with a SUP can be a hassle.

Place: Bali
When: Christmas
Pros: Perfect left handers, plenty of options, cheap.
Cons: Traffic; No kitting.

Hi -- just been looking at the Soloman Islands and they seem to be too much trouble ( domestic transport ) , currently looking at Samoa and it looks ok at present - trying to find the least windiest time of year on the south coast of Upulo - anyone help? Dec/Jan/Feb? maybe.
Went to the Maldives years ago and it was consistent and reasonably mellow( maybe not Cokes on a couple of occasions) but it would be a great place if you have the time and money.Camper trailer up the coast is also great value -- in fact just about any where that isnt windy. I surf and tour only

stehar: Hi did Samoa May last year, not the best time. October/Nov is glassy barrels & manageable swell & it builds all through Dec/Jan/Feb. We stayed at Salani, they have a great operation there.

Place:The Maldives (Chickens, Sultans; Cokes; Jails; Backyards, Kandooma; Riptides)
When:April to September
Pros:Perfect waves, plenty of options. Local guides are a huge plus There's a kid called ****u Areef that's the coolest guy. Always on the right spot in both on North Male and South Male Atolls. Chickens is unbelievable for backhand surfing. Sultans and Backyards are amazing as well. Ninjas is perfect for beginners who can trim already. Make sure that if you're taking a boat, everyone is on similar skill levels, because it can be annoying to have to surf small & mushy/big & sucky waves because you're with the wrong crew.
Cons:Traveling by plane is always an hassle when carrying boards.

If going to Bali,

Place: Sanur - Nice break off the reef - about an 800m paddle or hire a return boat ride for $5.

When: Good during dry season (I think - check with Jankie at Kite & Surf Bali)

Pros: Nice break, not crowded. Sanur is not as busy as Seminyak; lacks the cool restaurants and bars but more laid back.

Cons: I got nothin'. Maybe... Sanur is not as busy as Seminyak; lacks the cool restaurants and bars but more laid back.

Stay in Sanur, as it is 30 mins plus in a cab from Seminyak.

Hire your equipment from Jankie at Kite & Surf Bali, Sanur. Only good quality equipment (Jimmy Lewis surf SUPs)

It decided to go to Bali again. Sanur is actually not a popular surfing destination during the dry season, but I will check it out again. It was actually the place where I first SUPed on a wave and got bitten by this bug.

I haven't mentioned south america, because I was born in Brazil and I wasn't really considering that people would go that far.

Place: Pacasmayo and Lobytos, Peru (Check El Faro, it is a small hotel in the cliff in front of the wave in Pacasmayo)
When: April to July
Pros: 1km long left handers; no crowds, light off-shore winds in the morning, strong cross-shore in the afternoon. Perfect for kiting, surfing and supping; Everything is cheap.
Cons: It is cold, I mean really cold; Not a very safe country; Hard to find someone that speaks english

Currumbin in March , some fun ones today. When Currumbin has some size their are a number of options for sups. Stay out a bit wide from the point and wait for the bigger sets , your patience will be rewardedOr go in close to Laceys lane and catch the reforms or hang at the point and piss everyone offBest sup wave around Other than that go to Tassie , that's my next sup expedition.
