Just received my new Naish mana 10' (thx ocean Addicts) Can anyone shed light on why the scolloped tail. What does it do help turn?. Help track?..great board
do you mean exaggerated tail rocker? if yes ,yes it helps it turn on a wave ....when you stand at the rear it brings the nose up.
my old 70 year old mate was out on his 10 mana today ..catching some great little right handers .
i asked him if he wanted to try my 8,7 120 litre flow ,he refused ...and laughed .![]()
happy SUPing fitz.
Do you mean the slight bat tail?..
IMO.. it does nothing much.. ![]()
If it was a swallow.. diamond.. or a square.. and if most people were asked what shape it was by just surfing and paddling it without looking back there I'd bet a million dollars 99% of people couldn't tell what shape it was back there.. Naish know what they're doing so I'm guessing they did it for a reason.
I think maybe it's more a fashion or modern look thing.. It probably has a better release than the older squash shape so you might get a slightly fast turn.
Flame away those who don't agree.. ![]()
Finally got some waves this morning,Board goes great, not sure about the rider.Picks up waves really easy, stability isn't an issue, turns well. Not sure about the center fin,bit old school,10' board 9-10 inch fin, have some mal fins to try see how they go.As for the tail,no one is sure what it does, guess it does what it's supposed to do,stay at the back .Lot of theories, saying it's a square tail, but to cut down on tail area they put the "bat wings" in???????.Tardy know why the old mate laughed when you want to swap boards,I would have Also.Very happy with it
