Following Tardy's lead, I also ordered a custom Insane. I wanted something big and long to catch the bigger waves where I frequently surf.
It is commonly pretty lumpy out there on the big days and I wanted some stability, so it is 31" wide.
And they are pretty big waves that I will be seeking to surf (I normally use my 8'8 Flow V2 for the normal chest-headhigh+ waves) so I want to get on them as early as possible, so it is 9'9 long.
I have tried using my 12' Point Break - but it is too big. I typically use it on the real small days where I just want to catch the lumps.
I have tried using my 9'11 Insane, but it is just a bit too narrow at 29 5/8" wide - I found I was bobbling when trying to turn and paddle for the wave. Bobbling is bad.
At 9'11 I can't imagine it being very maneuverable, but on the big days, I just want to feel the adrenaline of catching the wave and feeling the speed as I fly across the face. Survival is the priority.
Of course, it should also be good when the conditions are crappy and the surf is not as big.
It is a pretty conservative design. Balsa with carbon stripe and mesh. Sadly they won't add a dark gray deck pad...

Can anyone recommend a black deckpad that would be suitable for a board like this? I know black is bad if you leave it out in the sun - so I won't leave it out in the sun. I have found a few deckpads but they have all been too short and/or narrow...
I had that decking on my 9.0 flash ,its a little bit sponger than the regular decking ,I found you had to wash it a bit more or it gets slippery ,I think the regular pad with the sunova S in it looks better ,just my opinion or course ,
shape looks great ..
its a GUN .WISH I'd got XXX now ..too late she cried ..lol,
