I was lucky enough to go on a SUP surf trip with Moon Tours with James Casey and Bert Berger and a bunch of other great people (no affiliation with Moon or Sunova). I was unlucky enough to have to come home...

We had some crappy weather but lots of great weather and good swell. No scary swell, but a few days of good size ways, and plenty of days of fun-size waves.

At one break we had a fun, challenging wave that sucked out and provided some attention-getting drops and sections that you had to race to beat, with fun shoulders and a deep exit. Paddling for some of those was like paddling in a river - the water was rushing off the reef so no matter how hard you paddled you did not really move forward - you just looked down at the crystal clear water and the reef and waited for the wave to take you.

We had a mix of people, from James and Rick who ripped, and a couple of 70-year-olds who showed no fear, with most people probably in their 50's - like me. They came from Kenya, US, NZ, (Thailand), and a bunch of aussies.

A few people ended up with scrapes and scratches from the reef, and one guy, Tom, had the biggest, darkest bruise you have ever seen, but otherwise we all survive unscathed (I must not have been trying hard enough).

As I have said elsewhere, we were all fortunate to have James Casey on board - he was always willing to provide tips (if you asked), and he taught a bunch of us on my foil. But watching him on a wave was like watching a freak - he can do anything on anything (longboard, 7'5" sup, sup foil, plus a 3.5' prone foil!).

Here are way too many photos (no one took pictures when I caught the good waves ;). I do have lots of GoPro video, but I am lacking time to go through it...

I was riding my 8'10 acid - 115L - I am 93 kg.

We shared pretty well!

"Mine Daz".

James was trying to teach me to bend my knees. I did sometimes...

This was fat betty's aka mushrooms. It was a dark and stormy night...

Farms or Inside Mikado's

Bert ripped!

And James is a freak!

But another guy on the trip, Rick, was also an amazing surfer.

There was plenty of sup carnage along the way, but we all did OK.

Anyway, that's enough photos...

It was a great trip!

NEVER enough pics CSE!
Thanks for the great shots and trip re-cap.... looks like some pretty sweet waves for the trip.

Nice ripping CSE... I am glad to see some pics of you surfing, cuz GoPro vids are harder to see the action.

Don't be shy, put up some more trip pics.... like boat life and beach trips, I'd love to see more of the total experience.

Sounds like a nice trip @cantSUPenough

All I see in the photos are rigths. Any left waves over there for us, poor goofy SUPers?
