Does anyone know much about these original Australian made 14' Sup's ?
Are these board a collectors item ?
This board was referenced to a piece of soap.

Dick Van Straalen DNA I think ?
Still keen searching for some back story on this brand and board.
Do any of the original 14' SUP race crew who may know of this brand and board still visit this forum ?
Cheers
I started Lahui kai paddleboards on the Goldcoast at first we made Open ocean prone Paddleboard to cross the Molokai channel then when the Battle of the paddle SUP race started we tried our hand into making 12'6" Sup boards to compete in the that race in California. The boards dominated that race in all divisions and Surftech took on that model as their own for a few years then we made the 14' board EPS and hollow model . So from this the SUP world exploded and started here in Australia. I sold the brand to SUPATX in California and they still make some lahui Kai boards but not racing boards I believe. still would be a good all round board to race in most conditions. Enjoy the ride Mick Di Betta
Lahui Kai 'Orca' 14' is for sale, all offers considered, check the buy and sell listings.
Potential SUP collector item.
Of limited relevance I admit, but my downwind board is a hollow moulded SIC F16 (probably mk 1 version)
A couple of gelcoat chips, but still solid in 30+ knots of Melbourne winter.
I would say this LK is a collectors board that would still be a delight to paddle.
After lockdown here in Vic. LaHui Kai 14' will be available for a try before you buy if any Victorians are keen for a test ride at the beach closest to my place at Tyrone foreshore Rye.
Hopefully this lockdown will end on the suggested 7 days.
Message system on this site is not working so texting or calling me direct is the best form of communication.
Best wishes to all the other Victorians on the breeze as we head into another potential Covid storm and civil liberty restrictions.
Let's hope the potential Covid wave is only a mere rain drop ripple and not an actual swell.
