Hi guys
After months of wind in the wrong direction or I'm at work when it's in the right direction the gods lined up and I managed to take Jimmy out in a 30km per hour wind, however much that is in Knots I have no idea.
The runners were good for 1/3 of the run and after that either my paddle fitness reduced or the runners ran the wrong way. Everything lined up well to start but I think tide and swell direction and wind direction changed as did the direction of the run itself.
The Sidewinder handled the conditions really well and it was more my lack of moving my back foot enough to raise the nose that caused me to fall off 3 times rather than it digging in too much in the back of the wave in front. I thought the board might be affected by the wind as has happened to me with previous boards but no, it held to the water line really well and did not tip me off. Chasing runners was great when the wind was directly behind me and the runners were straight and I was really pleased with the way it behaved on the day.
Looking forward to an even stronger wind next time and hopefully everything lining up perfectly so I can keep getting better at this stuff.
Nice run dave, my run in geelong died at the start to 13knts and paddled all the way home with missy washy boat wakes to keep you awake ![]()

Hate it when that happens!
Awesome, board looked great
Once your shoulder is fixed you can come along although at 23 wide you will be a bit faster if you stay upright!??
Great to see you get some DW time. Its been calm here. When you do get those first few glides without paddling its great.I've still lots to learn.
This board just smashes it way through waves. So many times i thought it was going to bury and there is a spray of water and it carries on.
Ignore the date on the pic.

You have to get the feet moving and brace with the paddle. I think it was DJ that said that on here. In the vid where you get onto the wave then fall if you take one step back bend your knees and brace with the paddle you have a lot more balance. I actually practised (when no one was around). Paddle hard and get some speed up then just take a step back and brace. Repeat. Then as soon as you feel yourself take of on a runner do it.

Yep I spent 2hrs Sunday practicing paddling up then downwind and moving around the board, if I could paddle every day I would be a much better paddler.
