Hi all. New to the forum. Can anyone advise how strict Jetstar are with SUPs? I wanna take my 8' 2" upto the Goldy but its about 180mm too long. They say 2.3 metres is whats allowed but Im at 2.48. Thanks.
I think Jetstar pack all their luggage into small containers before going on the plane, if it doesn't fit in the container that's bad luck, pay the extra and fly virgin, they take 14' boards.

Too right it's bad luck
I have repaired a number of boards where it was juussttt too long so they just slammed the container shut.
it will be a 2300 instead of 2400 real quick trust me
Jetstar weigh your carry on and charge on the spot for excess too!
Don't wait at the gate. If you only show up when general boarding starts they don't normally have time to weigh things so you can just get on the plane with whatever you carry (don't go too crazy).
I'd just wait somewhere close to the gate where they don't do their rounds.
Jetstar are terrible to deal with when it comes to anything oversized. I took a 7'10 surfboard to Sydney on the way to the Gold Coast from Perth and when I got to the check in, I was told my board was too big and couldn't be taken on the flight even though I had taken the same board the year before on the same plane. When I asked what I could do, I was told it's not their problem and the longest I could leave the board at the airport was 24 hours. I was told I could go down to Air services Australia to see if I could get it shipped up there, but it would probably take up to 3 days. I did get it air freighted up and I picked it up 1/2 hour after we landed so I was thinking it went on the same plane as us. When I complained to the supervisor, she said they have had a few complaints and its up to the check in person if they will accept the board or not. Piss poor customer service.
Hehe, sure it went on the same plane.
There's no excuse for poor customer service but with these low cost airlines it's best to have zero expectations. I would avoid it altogether and consider it a bonus if the flight actually gets you there on the same day.
I really don't get it when people start complaining as you just get what you pay for. If we all avoid these cheap airlines, the problem goes away. Or more competition but that won't happen unfortunately.

Translation: you should have greased his palm.
Seriously, it was what a frequent traveler told me: always tip the baggage handler when you deposit a board.
