Don't think there is any kind of watercraft NOT represented there. Definitely the place to go if you want to be run over by contraptions you've never even heard of

" one down" one half of the country ,[ in my dreams] .

" one to go" the other half of the country [ still dreamin]

But really, these god dam things are a complete pain in the arse .

ok , get towed in at some knarley off shore huge break , but not at a paddle in beach break!!

And if you what to tear arse around and waste time , buy a stink boat so you can bore the ****e out of your family , and then you will be off the water sooner. Better for your family and better for us .

Noisey yobbo machinery.

Should be outlawed from within one mile of shoreline and silenced completly!!!

we use to have a problem with them at my local break about 10 years ago, the local council & marine authorities arranged a meeting one night, 2 jet skiers and over 100 locals turned up and that was the end of the jet skis, they are now banned !

I'm with Sands. Unfortunately the new boat ramp down our way will only encourage them There's a hole bunch of them that just pests. My stratergy and I urge everyone to do this is to paddle into the break and theoritically they are no longer allowed to operate within 200 metres of of other beach users.[}:)]

Technically you live closer to the take off zone than me so you kinda got priority (but expect the inevitable drop ins )

Surely the idiot should be banned riding in a unsafe manner, not the vehicle.
An outsiders point of view of course. i don't know how bad it is up there so i could be mistaken, but im a surfer, Sup'er, Kiter, wakeboarder, and own a Jet Ski. If banning things is the way to go where will it stop a SUP is pretty frigken big and can do swimmers damage if the rider on it rides in in a unsafe manner in crowded areas, such as a kite, or even surfers around swimmers. Jet skis are extemes of these but they are imprtant and safe if the user is considerate and aware of sorroundings and they are a vital part of most beach's life saving facilities.

In short piss the idiots off not the vehicle.

In tassie there are strict rules around swimmers, but comonsense should

Let me paint a picture for you: New Years day a few years back. Myself and 200 of my closest mates are surfing the 1st 4 feet waves in a couple of months in clean conditions. Classic NYD stuff.

In the lineup is every craft imaginable including 3 jet ski's. Just in my bubble which I sit inside of on crowded days like this I am on a wave and a guy getting towed by a ski goes about 3 feet away from me past looking to get around the wave and onto the shoulder, wave over for me in the wash. Then I paddle back out and the ski and the towed dude pass either side of me rope going over my head with at least 6 inches spare.

This is a good experience on a nice day. Even more frustrating to the average guy is 6 feet waves, rip running flat out. 3 Ski teams run circuits of either step offs or just taking their mates back to the top of the line up as you paddle your arse off to just stay in position. 30 minutes of paddling, a set comes and some bloke that just jumped off takes the wave.

I wish it was just bogan wave jumpers with Jet Pilot head to toe that are bad news out there but more often than not when there's waves it's your own kind that ruin for you. I am not surprised this ban has occurred.

They can still have it when the surf is too big or sweep to strong to paddle, i'll be on top of the rock with a six pack watching. This just controls the idiots.

P.S Some of the negative comments on here about Jet Ski's are also very applicable to people I also see at the Alley on SUP. Dangerous, greedy and dumb.......

I saw this in local rag on Friday - great news.

What about the 100 boats that have been sitting on Palmy reef this week all coming back in through the Alley?

Nearly been collected by 6 man outrigger canoes as well.

Atleast it is a start!!

I'm a bit anti ban anything to be honest!! yes i know that there are dicks that ride skis but as CMC said there are also some on SUP's, now what if this same group of people who pushed for the Jet ski ban now set there sights on SUP's? there are laws for Jet skis and if the police were doing there job then this would not be a problem. To me this is just the easy way out, if some one hoons in a car they get it taken of them so why would something like this not work for ski's and boats as well.

Yeah those 6 man outriggers are super dangerous but when you see some of the guys in the boats paddling you can see why!!! aaa CMC

JACKO!!!

Yes I know there have been near misses in the 6 mans, they are hard to turn. If those guys would just stop moving around so much I'm sure we could hit them more often....

Just kidding of course, the OC6 will generally run a straight line, just choose a path and go one way or the other and not just rabbit in the spot lights in front of them and they will miss you. Do not wait for them to go around you.....

balls were meant for the head. yet you dont have to ride a jetski to get one either, just a dickhead. you should not expect any high demands for commonsense either as the gene pool of our species is getting weaker everyday. like the idea of rope though....stealth attacks

Jetskis = Aqua Bogans!
Whilst I see a Jetskis relevance for tow ins on the massive stuff or getting to outer reefs they dont belong out in your local beach break....good decision

In NSW Jet Ski's arent allowed in the break where there are surfers or any other craft around for that matter. Don't go bogan on the skis, just some of their riders.

the picture painted in this case looks sad. But still my point the jet skiing near the surfers especialy on the same bank or break is very illegal. do your job water rats or MAST or who ever makes the water way rules. if they are prepared to break them anyway, banning them ??? WTF, will it mean anything.

whats the consequence for breaking the "not allowed to be near swimmers or water craft unless doing under 5 knots rule" anyway??

Is it nothing!!! or is it 10 reminders of the rule then nothing?

doesn't sound to me like banning them completely is the most logical answer. or the next step in finding a soloution etiher.
