That's not Jason..
I'm surprised.. I didn't think Mark was doing that anymore after the Connor/Starboard thing.
Maybe they just ordered a custom SIC Bullet in plain white.. and then painted it themselves.. ![]()
It looks awesome.. ![]()
Why would you take a lovely board like that and then dress it up like a hyperactive tart's boudoir?
I guess it's a matter of personal preference, but to my eyes the JP graphics look like someone is trying to induce an epileptic fit in a susceptible relative they don't like. As with Starboard's graphics, I know of several people who would not buy the brand on the grounds of the graphics alone, and no-one who sees them as an asset. This seems an incredible own goal for a brand. Boards like this are not often bought by teenagers who want to paddle at night.
But no doubt there are many people who love these graphics. So it would be good to hear your point of view.
I'm surprised there is not more discussion on the forums about the graphics of boards since many retailers near me say the two most important variables in the majority of sales are cost and looks (in that order). No-one wants to spend $$$$$ on something they find repulsive to look at.
I can say from personally seeing this board today on the water near Waimea that it looks awesome in the flesh so to speak. ![]()
looks like nsp are the only other brand beside sic and naish to have a crack at unlimited.
ps I don't really count the starby unless someone has a crack at moloka ion one and starby team riders appear not to be interested

I'm a bit worried you are channelling my thoughts, or I'm channelling yours.
When I first walked in to the shop to buy my first board (2 years ago, give or take), I was showed Naish, Fanatic, Starboard.
Eliminated Starboard on the spot because I thought they looked crappy.
Was that meant to be a Space Invader or what? Still don't consider them, mainly on graphics. I don't have to be right - it's my money.
Bought Fanatic, surprisingly based on suitability of the board for a 52 year old beginner, liked the graphics (2013), lairy enough but OK for a FOB.
Moving on, the older Naish all white, or white / yellow, then yellow with a bit of black look classy. Last couple of years way too busy.
They no longer make the boards I am interested in, so not an issue, but would not spend my money on something that looks like what they are producing.
Unless they make a 17' LE.
I like the older SIC colour fades, really classy gloss finished boards, but the new ones are OK.
But as the owner of a 14' V2, I suspect black is a dumb colour for a paddleboard that gets left in the sun.
The reds may be better but don't seem to make it to Australia.
Fanatic has slipped from view - hated the bull terrier look boards, and not a fan of fake sanded carbon, interest moved on.
My biggest minus for inflatables is the lack of options for graphics, unattractive look, although I have a Nisco thing, could not get excited about a vinyl thing.
The way my paddling has developed, I'm probably moving to customs, and one of the many attractions is designing my own colours / graphics.
But love my second hand SIC 12'6" Bullet, classy looking board must be five years old, has retained its' appearance I think due to quality manufacture and simple graphics. Second hand 17'4" Bullet still delights, classy look, I think 4 years old and looks as new. No overdone signwriting, just pure class in its' finish.
On a finger count, I have bought 5 boards this year (all second hand), and appearance has played a major part in each purchase.
From the photo, I wouldn't buy that. Got no susceptible relatives.
Wow, I think a lot of people here have lost sight of the fact that it's a CUSTOM board. Made to James requirements.
It doesn't matter whether any of the rest of us would buy it or not. Who cares?
James specced it that way and he got exactly what he wanted and if you actually saw it in the flesh on the water you may change your mind. Or not. Who cares?
I'm sure my custom bullet's colour scheme isn't to everyones taste but I'm not asking anyone else to like it. I don't give a s**t what anyone else thinks.
Bit rude to jump all over someone's brand new custom Bullets colour scheme because you may have an issue with manufacturers colour schemes.
Start a new thread on it if bothers you that much.
Also, I don't pick boards on how they look; how they feel & perform is what's important. But then maybe that's just a crazy idea that I have.........
Lets be realistic, This isn't JP's new unlimited SIC bullet.
It is a JP team rider getting a board to compete in an unlimited class, and being loyal to his sponsor by ensuring the board advertises them.
No one here has tried to hide that it is a SIC bullet.
As for the JP graphics conversation, either way has never been something that worries me too much. But everyone has the right to choose how they spend their hard earned and if graphics factor in for you, your choice.
I'm surprised.. I didn't think Mark was doing that anymore after the Connor/Starboard thing.
Mark has sold the SIC company a while back so Mark can free lance, you pay he will shape you what you want.

Sounds great!!! Can't wait. Got the Da Hui race on North Shore tomorrow. Should be fun.
Hoping to get some surf his year on Maui. May have to pick your brains for early morning, SUP friendly spots.
JP bought Sic & Imagine over a year ago.
Yep.
Thats why I posted this photo, I thought it was fitting considering JP own SIC.
I actually think this board looks the goods.
but nothing will ever beat Downwinders custom SIC graphics... they will be in the hall of fame one day...
I'm not a big fan of guys who are sponsored by a brand that use another brands products but have that product completely bare of the actual brands labels and have their sponsored brands labels on them.. as that is miss-leading.
for example Connor and Kai both use the QuickBlade V Drive paddle now, though I have not seen a photo yet with any Q.B markings on them. Yet they are stickered up with Naish and Starboard logo's which to me is wrong. I'm sure this a contructal issue as neither are sponsored by QB and their sponsors can't produce a paddle good enough for their needs but still want their labels on everything they are using... I believe if they are using a QB paddle and are not sponsored by QB instead of plastering it with naish or Starby logo's just leave the paddle completey blank.
James board is all good it states it's a SIC he just has his sponsored brands colour scheme and stickers on it after all it is a custom. Were SIC have their logo's on their boards his also has them on it, so theres no trying to miss lead anything.

Amir Arbe, is Mark Raaphorst’s right hand man when it comes to shaping the SIC unlimited boards has left SIC last November. I haven't asked Mark the question but will. Who will be shaping the SIC boards if your not there Mark.
I'm very funny when it comes to who's shaping my surfboards, surfing SUP's or Downwind SUP
A lot of shapers can shape a board but NOT MANY can shape a board that goes really good.
I will cry when good friend Sam Egan hangs up the planer he's now 72 half years old I've been getting boards of Sam since I was a grommet. Sam still looks after me to this day.
Sam Egan is in the top 3 Board Shapers on the Planet of all time.
