I tried attaching the GoPro Session to the side of my helmet - unfortunately, the helmet was in view... But the odd thing is that the camera appears to move relative to the helmet - but I am sure it does not physically move. I can only guess it is part of the superview compression or image stabilization process. (And yes, I should have done more with the first wave...)
Pretty cool shots there. Think your looking it to it to much. Majority people wouldn't even notice it. But in saying that. I wonder why it happens too

Yes, I was only commenting on it out of curiosity - I was surprised when I saw it. I was out at Flinders (vicco). It was a good session, but a bit lumpy due to the cross-shore wind. I was on my 8'10 116L Acid.
Looks like an awesome session... great waves!
The helmet seems to block some wind noise that my "Sessions4" is prone to.
Thanks! Actually, the sound improvement may be because it is a Session HERO5. I think they have improved the noise reduction capabilities.
My son was out at Big Left yesterday (board not SUP) yesterday and loved it until his knucklehead mate dislocated his shoulder and they had to drag him back thru the water to Meanos as he couldn't lie on his board - long slow paddle
Then the goose put his shoulder back in while they watched and went to Franga Hospital

So that's what was going on? I saw the guy calling for help and two of his mates got to him quickly - I wondered if his legrope was caught on the reef because he didn't seem to be able to move. But when they all slowly went back in it left me wondering what was going on. How did he do that? Hit the bottom, or grab is board going through the wave? There were some good size waves.
You can do a fish eye corrector in the programme which takes out the round horizon and show less of the helmet . I always shoot on wide it gives a more cinematic effect. When you use any head cam it shoots what your eyes see in a straight line. Turn your head to the subject and use your nose as a gun site. Takes practice but works .

Thanks Piros - I will give both suggestions a go. I think I probably shouldn't swing my head too fast either (from a cinematography point of view) but I am normally checking the wave for the next fun thing to do
Yeah it's hard to do when surfing keep your head looking straight ahead and then look out of the corner of your eye at the wave . Movements are less when the camera is mounted centre on top of your head. But I like the side vision. Superview works good on the chest or on the board.

For what it is worth, I had my GoPro going at the time. I was paddling when he called out (you can hear it if your volume is up) and it made me fall off my board. You can see the wave that got him at the start, and the set that cleaned them up afterwards. It looks a mile away thanks to the fisheye...
