Hit the broken shaft and blade for about 15 to 20mins with the heat gun,hot enough to use glove or rag,but no luck in separation
Any tips ?
Or is there a pro out there in Vicco that I could take to
Cheers
Put the blade in the vice with padding around it and keep heating the shaft and twist the handle or blade until the bond breaks. The glue will soften and melt eventually.
I've done this on heaps of paddles on the blade and handle and it works . Remember to keep the heat gun moving so as to not overheat the carbon.
Be patient the glue will soften![]()

Note: If you are going to be fixing and afixing handles and blades, it is worth purchasing a temperature controlled electric heat gun. They can usually get a bit hotter than most but allow fine temp control on composite/hot melt glues.
BTW are you sure the blade wasn't epoxyed on?

What brand of paddle is it and do you have a replacement shaft for it once you get the blade off?
I'm in Parkdale if you ever come past this way and I'd be happy to have a look at it and try for you.
Thanks for the tips,I now have a good blade and a good shaft, that I will join together
What's the best glue to use ?
I like to use hot glue in store but 5 min araldite works well also. Heat will bring both apart pretty easily. Full strength epoxy is pretty much a permanent thing. Sam.
