^^^ I'm hearing you Hilly, However, no matter how obnoxious or loud I am on this forum I can't compete with a 40+ fat unfit bogan with too much money on a Jet Ski, tearing up our beaches.

Most people see to bag the sport they can't afford or don't have the skill to do.

Why is surf politics so vitriolic??

Being at one with the ocean should make you calm regardless of what craft you choose. If it doesn't, then maybe you should try another sport.

(I shortboard, longboard, SUP, Kite and if I had the money I would tow-in too)

I can never understand the anger in the waves.

I sometimes even admire the skill of bodyboarders and goatboaters

Don't have the skill to what? Ride a jet ski or get towed into 6-8 foot waves?

Being at one with the ocean with a noisy smelly piece of crap, yeah right.

They definitely have a place but generally speaking not where it's small enough to paddle in or where there are other surfers.

I can't comment on this spot though and from what Rob says it was cool with the tow guys. Sounds like they are fairly considerate to the non motorised crew.

Now that SUPs allow people to paddle in spots that are hard to prone surf we will get more of this type of thing and are seeing it already down here. Maybe I am jealous but I really hate em - they just ruin the serenity

Welcome aboard 7p5secondguy !!

I can certainly appreciate that towing will increase your wave count 10 fold on those fullish shifting bomboras. The bigger ones were pitching nicely though!

I'll pick up my conduct!

Simon does what?
- well I like to prone paddle some of my fuller volume guns into reasonable sized waves (that we get fairly regularly in Vic), which is what prompted my comment. Plus SUP, and 1 foot Tea Tree Bay on the malibu with no one else out, can be so so much fun (patience is a virtue) !

I bet ya this bloke had wished he had used a ski out at Cloudbreak yesterday. Apparently its Laurie Towner and no he did not make it! I am sure he would have coped a flogging though.

I think anger in the waves is pretty easy to understand mate. It is simply a result of people not respecting and considering other people around them.

Some do and some don't, and it is the posers, and ego-maniacs who don't who cause all the **** in the water. Whatever there mode of wave riding.

As always they are a small minority. And I know at my local, wave hogs what ever there riding are promptly told to F off...Classic example was last sunday, with some grommets telling a SUP that was hogging and dropping in to politely sod off.

IMO being a kook isn't the fact that you cant surf, it means you don't understand what surfing is all about.

PS - that was serious Cloudbreak !! Love to see more pics or vid of that ! I checked those swell forecasts a few days back, and it looked like Fiji was going to get a good swell !!

PSS - Vicco more or less missed out on this swell. Winds were not favourable, but the various protected corners were OK. Or did we score at the start of that swell ?? I can't remember... endless swell here lately... swells are coming in back to back...

They just showed a short clip of that wave on the Channel 10 news. Unreal. That fella has balls of steal - he pulls into this massive pit that shuts down on him. Madness. Respect.

I think i can add a couple of comments as i just turned 40, i surf, sup and tow (and kite)so someone is hating me all the time.

most serious tow crews hate jetskis its a real juxtaposition, when the surf looks borderine tow or paddle we take multiple boards and an anchor so we can anchor the ski and paddle. I actually do the same with my sup, carry an anchor and tow my regular board to outer reefs

There will always be inexperienced people on any craft skis, sups and prone pushing there own limits and they do tend to get in the way of others but unfortunately there is also ego maniacs who care only for them self

tow surfing has a place and that should always be nowhere near any other surfers
