Most probably doing a Down Wind run this afternoon.
We have 2 options to choose from;
1) 2pm meeting at Western Beach, in the Gully Carpark near Toorak Parade, Western Beach (suburb is actually Geelong). It's off The Esplanade, at junction of The Esplanade South. Paddling to Point Henry.
2) Or 2:30 meeting at Cosy Corner, paddling over to Whites Beach, getting runners out past the tip of Point Danger.
Caution: The wind is gusty today. Expect at least 15-20 knots in Geelong, with 25-30 knot gust periods. And circa 20-30 knots on the coast, and maybe 30+ on the gusts. Expected to moderate very slightly in the afternoon. Recommended for paddlers with open water experience, and 12'6+ boards. If you don't have a vest, try to wear either a yellow or orange T-Shirt, or similar bright colour.
(Holy Smoke, there's a strong wind blast buffeting my house right now! Poor campers!
).
Simondo, I'm really keen for a Eastern Beach to Limeburners Reserve run, clocking in at around 8.5kms, seems to be consistent with the wind direction, and a safer run, as if anything, we would be blown into either north shore or worst case, Avalon College.
PT and I are planning on getting there around 2pm. Should be around 25kn by then.
