Hi boys,

Is this paddle open to downwind beginners ?

I can paddle no problem and would be riding the 14 fanatic.

Interested in getting into down winding

Cheers

It is open to absolutely everyone and that is one of the reasons we have some safety measures in place, such as sweepers and pfds, as we do not know everyone's ability. Plus it is better to be proactive with safety rather than waiting for something bad to happen.

Anyone keen for a run this afternoon if the wind picks up?

Yep I will be keen depending on time, just worked a nightshift so about to get some zzzz's might not be ready to go until 3 or 4, but then again the wind might not be either.

Love to do the Mandurah run but time restricted, looking forward to tomorrow, the new Starboard Allstar is very slippery, surprisingly stable for width, once powered up it absolutely flies they have addressed all the issues that has made previous models a handful. It's fully sick.

^ I don't think i want to know Cam, the Freo-Swannie/Floreat run was good, as you know, but I think the Mandurah run would have been epic.

I didn't see any camera's DJ but it was a good turn out.

Great turn out was up there with the strongest wind conditions the swani run onwards had swells foaming up all the way to floreat kent and I both had our fair share of swims the shore break was interesting to Tuesday looking good

Your right tight lines you don't wanna know. Anywhere woulda been good yesterday but mandurah was ridiculous. After cruising for 2 or 3 minutes for a warm up I looked at my watch and was averaging 12.4kph. At half way was 12.9. It wasn't a down winder, it was just surfing!!! Best run ive done but only my second season.

This is my third season and the best I have done. Hardest part was paddling into the bay at Halls Head where we regrouped for the Singleton leg. Never been as high up on the runner takeoffs as in the bay section

Thanks boys for taking me along on that Mandurah run. Sorry to hold you all up. I'm a bit embarrassed at how much harder simply staying upright was than I expected it to be. All the same, a bit of practice and get the fitness up, look forward to working it out.

Don't worry we were all there at the start, the learning curve is what it is all about. Ben(2) has improved out of sight in just 3 outings.

Highlights:
Sharing runners with Belly along the best stretch from Bitches on to Halls Head
Having a break half way and everyone buzzing
Almost taking Ben(1) out from behind after starting on a run 100m back
Best wipeout award when I nose dived (Got a good laugh from Tim and Belly anyway)
Watching a DC fly in the shorebreak (Ben lucky not to have 2 or a sore noggin)
Beer after and war stories - Thanks Ericson

As everyone said on the day best run yet

As every one has said it really was all time!! I've done 4 seasons now and it was the best one I've done by far.. 21km and I'm not sore today certainly shows how much paddleing I actually did.. Sharing those runs with Hilly was such a blast almost not even paddleing...
Was great to have a crew do it also..

Woooooo still buzzing!!

Yep I pretty much knew that would be the case, I was going to try to get down there but I was just pushed for time.
We did have fun but it was still mainly paddling on the one side, I'd imagine you guys would have had the wind pretty much directly behind you on that run so I def want to try to do it sometime soon.
Unfortunately (or fortunately when it comes to morning surfs) I work a lot on weekends and get a lot of days off during the week, so if anyone else out there gets days off or early finishes midweek (tomorrow for example) and wants to catch up for a downwinder, Mandurah or local let me know I will be keen.
