Bit of footage taken over Chrissy, New Year peak season. Nothing special, average waves and surfing about the same, however...... Hundreds of crew around but none of the Lemmings wanted to take the hunt em down option leaving me a wave zone the equivalent of half a footy field to harvest. Top left of frame is my usual haunt, severely sand effected and choccers with punters. Out of frame to the left is the local alpha reef with twice as many again while out of frame to the right is the back beach with literally hundreds.
On the stand up I could see the sets coming and position accordingly, over towards the reef for some left hand runners, in the middle for some peaks with an inside reform or on the extreme right of frame for some grinding rip bowls. Couldnt do it on anything other than a stand up, would have to park and wait on a shorty, probably hunt down a few on a mal but on niether would have the vision advantage of the SUP. As I said, nothing spectacular but Lemming free and fun as hell.
Every serious surfer should have one in their quiver.....but jeez I'm glad they dont!!!
As usual, Hi Def option slightly better but overall quality is rubbish

Cheers, Love watching all the surfers sheeped together and you picking some sweet lefts on ya lonesome![]()
classic! the reverse also applys: you specificly paddle to a wave not as quite as good as the pack, just to get away from them. Yeah its a little fuller but ok on a SUP....1 by 1 they start to paddle over seeing you getting waves ![]()
Cheers all
Was'nt having a crack at shortboarders as such....more a comment of the state of most coastal towns this time of year. Have actually been enjoying surfing the shorty with my young bloke this summer and have found that the steeper the wave and the more the board drops out from under me on take off, the better able I am to swing my gammy knee up and away we go. Have had some classic onshore rip bowls on the shorty, today included. Point I was trying to make is that even in the most hectic summer crowds, stand ups offer you the freedom to paddle off down the beach, lose the war face and enjoy what we all love doing.
Catching waves!!

Often get this on the east coast open beaches Sparx surfing a bank thats not the best one on the day, until they see how many waves your getting and paddle across
,
thanks for the vid
.
Ripping freak keep the movies coming. Love the solo mission ,some thing had to get on northern beaches, what board are you on?the fuller nose boards tend to drop out of the lip on late take offs and the longer boards do as well.
Howdy Jan
Board is an eight two by twenty eight and thre quarters 4D shaped by Simon Forward.
Not much nose in this one
Gotta love the solo sessions. Am lucky in that even when its peak summer crazy there is still four kays of inaccessable beachies between us and the next town. Always a solo if you can be stuffed paddleing or walking.
