Using 1 of my boards today & found it less grippy than the others (to the point of me slipping on it).
Any tips for how to improve traction? (Other than replace it). Thanks
Clean it with detergent and rinse really well.
Recut the grooves with an angle grinder - delicate control needed or a jig.
Sand the deck grip lightly with rough sandpaper- 80 grit.
Thanks both. I did a quick wax mid way through the session - which helped. I do try to avoid it though as it's only temporary & I always forget to re-wax things (until I'm out there & need it..)
I'll give it a light sand (i think), to give it a bit more edge to it (where it's smoothed off)
I saw online somebody using salt in expoy resin - which looked terminal for the pad if it went wrong
Hilly is onto it but do not apply any non skid like sugar deck (or salt) as no resin or paint is going to stick to EVA well at all
moulded EVA is way worse for traction than the cut stuff and looks different so if you're looking for a new board try to get cut groove stuff.
I had a slick deck pad which I sprayed with contact cement which helped give it some tack. I retired my worn out booties at the same time.
Deck pads are on the pricey side so I try not to replace them until they delam.
But some stock pads are on the heavy side, was glad with an upgrade to RSPro cork..
