Hi all,
Clearly the nsp shape should be better for drive/direction when padding for touring.
However i found the nsp less stable although much larger in surface size. Against the reasonable guess.
Could it be that water currents under the surface actually play against me and the larger surface is not helping me?
Any idea which one to take for straight line and more stablility in choppy water?

That NSP fin looks better to me for both stability and straight paddling with the smaller swept back fin looking the better choice for surfing waves.
For the best of both worlds (paddling stability and surfing) concider a fin like these in a 9 or 10" size because it is like your smaller swept back fin but with a bigger base area.
I love these new tooless fins from FCS.

I my opinion a fin like this is best for that.
Great choice DJ, I would go for a fibre glass or carbon fin ,the floppy plastic ones have a terrible feel and lack drive ,
fins are very important ,I use a 9, on my 12 footer and 10 on my 14 , I would use the NSP fin out of the two you have ,
and maybe consider another fin if un-happy ,the Sunova one pictured ,I would use a 9 .glass fin .
I have a few FCS fins for surfing and use VMG ones for DW and touring which are carbon, both great to use.
