Gday Breezers,
Just reaching out to see if anyone has flown to SriLanka via Singapore on SriLankan Air. Heading there soon with boards in 9 foot covers. Website says they take windsurfers. Call centre says 150cm. Trying not to get caught out in Singapore with limitations on the A320. Getting to Singas will be fine. Just the connecting flight is the worry.
Also any recommendations would be welcome ????

G'day. I recently travelled Melbourne - Singapore (Qantas) - Colombo (SriLankan Airlines) return with an 8'0" SUP in an 8'6" bag, with no issues. I was able to check the board all the way through each way, so didn't have to bother about the board in Singapore. I can't now remember the limit on board length, but think you should be fine with 9'0".

.....and, I haven't been to India where I am told its worse, but enjoy the organized chaos on the roads over there. Tuk-tuks are a great way to travel around locally to surf breaks with your board, but beware the buses (the blue ones particularly, which are privately owned. The red ones are government buses) - they drive like something out of a video racer game.

Have previously travelled with Sri Lankan air with 9ft longboards (Bangkok-Colombo) and no issues!

I think the size requirements have to do with the luggage containers they use on board and not actually the size of the hold.. Air Asia predominantly run A320's and I've traveled with them heaps of times carrying multiple 14' race boards!

Another option might be to fly with Air Asia, they fly from Gold Coast to Colombo via KL...

I don't have any affiliation with Air Asia, just stoked to be able to take big boards around the world for really good prices..
