We've had fun conditions for the past month and half - here is clip from about a week ago where it hit 35knots in places.
Nice work Peter. I love how the Maliko looks white when overexposed... Naish should be more creative with their SUP colourways - like their kite boards! Is that a 24" or a 26"? Also, what's your opinion of the Malikos fairly low volume? Thanks for taking the time to do the vid.. its always nice to see what's happening in Cape Town...

It's the 26" - I've tried the 24" a few times and it just doesn't go any faster for me - I do think that may be due to my weight (87/88kg) which just seems to suit the 26". Guys 80 kg and below fly on the 24". The Maliko really has amazing glide, as long as bumps aren't too steep and close together it has the best glide I've experienced but it does require some precise footmovement to get the most out of it, it subtle movements but get it right and it just glides and glides.....

Pretty sure they're wearing impact vests Helmy.. They certainly add some buoyancy, but I know they're not legal PFDs.. At least here in Canada. I think they aren't approved in Aus either.. Maybe they are OK in South Africa?
We don't have an official rule about approved PFD's but try and enforce that all paddlers wear some kind of flotation. When we race we allow either full westsuit, impact vest, inflatable PFD or approved PFD.

@ surfniels... our winter isn't great for dw - but the surf is good! (of course, if you meant your winter=our summer then you should strike it lucky - last 2 weeks wind has been >25 kts every day but 2 & has gone >30kts on at least 5 days!)
Of course you are right. My winter is the african /Australian summer. I spend one winter/summer enjoying the Cape doctor and the Capetown area windsurfing more than 10 years ago. And I am super eager to go again.
We have quite a coldspell at the moment. But it's looks better from some point next weekend. We have lots of Downwind posibilities but it's hard getting a crew together when it's only 1 degree
